your right, there are alot of whores in the military, but even so sex is not necessarily important, but it definitely relieves stress, makes you feel better, makes you relax, and the better you get, the more satisfied your partner becomes (obviously talking about a monogamous relationship) and even though you refuse to sleep with a whore, thats what they really are, just to be used for sex really... but even if you want to have your first time with someone special, in the military its going to be hard finding a virgin partner (trust me) and even if you do that dont mean she will sleep with you

I will never fully understand bronies.
(warning: may be offensive to bronies)

And it's not because I don't watch MLP. I do watch it. And I like it a lot. I think it's clever and cute. However I will never consider myself a brony, because I appreciate it just as much as any other show that I like. I am a spectator of good shows. I am a good audience member. I can have a meaningful discussion about the show with other people who have watched it, and none of us will name ourselves anything. Because none of us are such attention starved, bandwagon hungry people.

Bronies remind me of the "nerd girls" that the internet apparently hates. The ones that obsess themselves and pride themselves on being a pop-culture minority - doing something that is not typical for their gender. There was a point at the beginning of all this "brony" thing that I contemplated calling myself a brony, because I liked the show so I thought "why not join the fandom?"

I decided not to because bronies drown every single aspect of pop culture in MLP. Maybe I've been on this site too long, but I'd say that there has been a ponified rendition of almost every game, TV show, movie, and event worth mentioning on the internet. I'm not upset that these references exist. I'm upset that bronies are so damn impressed with them.

Bronies, please, get over yourselves. Tara Strong is not a goddess, and neither is Lauren Faust. I'm just glad Faust has the decency to not take her work so seriously while her fans are raving about it everywhere. Be like Faust. Enjoy the show and know humility.

Well here I am, a level headed person who enjoys MLP, criticizing bronies. It is my hope that this explains the majority of the hate/dislike towards bronies. Even we recognize that there are extreme haters on our side, and we don't approve of that.

I will never say that bronies suck because they are gay or fags or any other accusation that has nothing to back it up.

Right, I'm just saying, there are plenty of people who will take their arguments and opinions and bring them to places, like these posts in ponytime, and slather the comments with their points of view, despite how unnecessary it is. your own wall of text was verging on relevancy.

and I wanted to address a point that you made, the whole "nerd girls" thing.

There are attention whores in everything, this is a given. However, I think it is very much unfair to compare a whole community, one that often promotes a message of acceptance and goodwill, with an after effect of a sociological phenomenon (women venturing into what is considered to be more "for guys").

I disapprove of the whole "I'm a brony! look at me!" thing as much as the next person, but that's hardly what the fandom at large is about. in fact, I most often see people point at and ridicule fans for being just that, fans, who just want to purchase merchandise and perpetuate their own fandom.

Hm, if you would allow me the question, what do you think about star wars or star trek fans, then? They have conventions, too. Then there is the comic-con and a ******** of other conventions. Do you think of them in a similar way? That everyone attending there is just attention starved, and not, i don't know, just a fan of something he enjoys and wants to be with people who think the same way?

I agree with some of the stuff you said, by the way. I don't consider myself a brony either. Like you i just enjoy the show, but when it comes to the people who call themselves bronies, why should that concern me at all? Let them enjoy themselves.

Also, when it comes to hyping up certain people, bronies will never reach the level of trekkies.

Also², Please don't hate me for having an Opinion that isn't anti-brony, FJ

I can respect that. I can respect that there are trekkies and the like. I am totally fine with them liking whatever they want.

But the thing is, they don't make a point about it. They don't make a big hoopla about it, as if they are on the cutting edge of good taste. They are simply fans who enjoy fan things. And it's completely understandable. They don't take pride in their fandom for the fandom itself, nor for the fanfic. They just like the show and that's that.

But bronies take it to a whole new level. They go off on tangents, and in many cases prefer non-canon events and stories to the actual show. It's like they're just making it up as they go, and then call it super awesome and amazing. Like saying that Derpy is married to Dr. Whooves and has a daughter etc. They do it so much, post so much, that it almost does become canon due to fan service.

What I'm saying is, the brony community is insufferable. Theoretically, they should be the same as the trekkies. In practice though, they aren't. That's the difference.

Guess your view is based on personal experience then. I have heard that argument very often, but I've never seen a brony act like that myself.

There are people that take it way too far, but from what i read, even the brony community doesn't like them. Overly obsessed ponyfags, you know, the kind of people that are having trouble with the separation of fantasy and reality, but i don't think it's fair to base your view of the community as a whole.

I'm no expert, but my guess is the biggest part of the brony community is exactly like those trekkies, they enjoy their own stuff and keep to themselves, most of the time.

It's just that those ponyfags are making huge ripples and everyone just assumes that's what all bronies are like.

I'm not saying this is a fact, this is just how i see it.

ponyfags, as you call them, post content. Then that content gets several hundred thumbs.

I wouldn't be concerned about this if the content were any good. But it isn't. It's usually just a reference to the show itself. Something like, "OH, MY, GOD! FROG ORANGE! **** YEAH!"

It's nothing great. It's an AS SEEN ON TV moment, and not even a funny one. Not clever and not even cute.

As much personal experience that I can ignore, it's still difficult to objectively say that the content got its thumbs because it was either funny, incredibly adorable, original, interesting, and/or morbid. There is a VERY good chance that other bronies saw the content and thought, "Well, it has ponies. Better thumb it up!"

And don't bring pokemon into this, please. At least pokemon posts, although slightly whoring to the fandom, are usually at least funny or feelsy. And it rarely floods the newest uploads.

So it's not just the "ponyfags" causing the problem. It's the bronies supporting the ponyfags. So I have to disagree; many bronies aren't against ponyfags.

Hm, i see your point. I just don't see it as a problem personally. I mean, it's not just the Pony posts that are unfunny (at least some of them, some are actually pretty good)

The newest uploads section is full of unoriginal unfunny stuff at the moment. Mainly faggots trying to promote their own ****** page.

Usually i just skip the post and don't bother with it. If it's really bad, you can thumb it down.

I think the point where i disagree the most, is the discussion itself. Usually i don't participate at all, but you were one of the few people who actually presented a point. You didn't just post something like "omg lol gay poni die plx" - but if you look at it, what good could possibly come from these discussions?

Not many discussions go on like this one, with both sides keeping it objective and respectful. Most of the time it just ends in a huge *********. There will be no common ground. Ever. So why bother?

The only way to win in this, is to avoid participating at all.

Bronies will always continue to like their show, some of them will thumb anything pony related, ponyfags will on continue to do whatever the **** it is they do and haters will always continue to hate. I'm pretty sure a large percentage of those people are trolls that just try to kickstart a *********, anyway.

That all being said, i understand your point of view and i see why it bothers you, but considering that no amount of discussion will ever change the way this whole thing works in a way that satisfies both sides, it's best to avoid the topic completely and just let everyone do what everyone does. (unless you enjoy **********)

It's healthier.

Meh. I guess tired old farts like me get annoyed seeing so many pointless, overzealous fanboys getting their content to mid page for nothing but a stupid, unfunny reference. I'd be fine if the content stayed in the new post section, and it usually does, but quite a few leak into middle page.

Anyways, it just annoys me in the same way that gamer girls annoy me. The actual concept of a gamer girl is fine with me; it's actually awesome if the girl legitimately likes games and stuff. But it's when she starts whoring for attention BECAUSE she's a gamer girl, and when she starts making a big deal about stupid things (like her buying a controller and saying "omg, I'm such a nerd"), THAT's when I get annoyed. As I'm sure you and everyone on the internet does, too. In the same way I get annoyed at bronies - how they often can't seem to get over themselves and their pointless references.

Anyways, thanks for being such a respectful opponent. It was a good discussion and you honestly cooled my jets.

I'm getting so confused and disoriented.
I thought there was a user named you on FJ
I recognized bitchplzzz because his name (perhaps not) may be Dylan
Your image makes it seem like I did something funny in which I was just being a forgetful faggot.
