There are some really intruiging aspects to it and I love some of the art-design (Tau, Necron and Space Marine especially) but so far as the lore goes I've barely scratched the surface.

I think the term "banter" suits us better. We enjoy a back and forth between opinions/witty people (or sometimes just to troll the people who genuinely deserve a bit of Karma) rather than a straight-up argument. They tend to get nowhere and get irritating after a while. Banter on the other hand keeps friendships alive and well by giving friends (or sometimes complete strangers) a good laugh as well as a reasonably competative (but friendly) atmosphere where both parties respect each other.

Arguments are PC users raging at Mac users or X-Box vs PS and whilst those are fun... they get real old real fast.
