I wonder if they had this planned out from the start... It would only make sense since Celestia represents light, Luna represents darkness and the word Twilight means a point of day in with light and darkness meet, a boundary in a way.

Sparkle - "The stars will aid in her escape." It's subtle, but it makes sense, especially considering Twilight's cutie mark.
