You can't get absinthe in the states? =/ weird, i could walk up to the liwuor store by my house and grab some if i wanted hahaha (BC, Canada :p)

Yeah. They made it illegal because of claims it could cause psychotic breaks and mental illness. At least that's what the history channel told me. Then again the history channel also told me this.

So I just did a little research on absinthe. As of 2007 the ban in the US was lifted and companies can now sell absinthe so long as it does not contain the chemical thujone(which the FDA will not allow in any food products) which is used in the production process of traditional absinthe. Apparently thujone is known to cause convulsions.
