gay or not, mares go for him because male ponies are fairly uncommon. Mainly because so many colts take hormones out of the desire to better fit in the fancy-prancey world of MLP.

So assuming that IS her dad (could be an older brother), the only members of the Mane Six whose parents have not been shown are Applejack and Fluttershy.
