Nobody fucks with the Jesus Pony
Seriously, props to the animators for putting stuff like this in a kids show.

it was made by lauren faust for the kids as much as the parents in other words IT'S A SHOW FOR PEOPLE not age groups, not girls, people.

*sigh* The target audience IS children. References like this exist so parents whose children insist that they watch the show with them have something at least *slightly* appealing to them, NOT so that manchildren watching the show by themselves get an extra kick out of it.
yes and no. Lauren Faust made the show with the goal of making it as entertaining for the kids watching it as for the parents. Not just a reference here and there, but equally enjoyable. The target audience that the hub envisioned was under ten year olds, but the ideas of the creators and the distributors of things are often very different. Lauren Faust didn't envision the brony community in the least when she made the show, but once it came around she said she was glad that people enjoyed the show. She wasn't expecting it, but she did hope that it wouldn't be a young age group inclusive show
