You surely must improve your shadow drawing skill.
There's no shadow under the wing, there should not be shadow on ear (look at pony faces pictures, their ears are facing forward), the tail with those shadows looks like plastic, no shadow from mane on the face, etc.
Next time you'll draw something, draw helping lines at first, marking where the light come from, it would be easier to figure out, where the shadows should be.

I think I'd like it more if rainbow dash was more visible, like the light wasn't shining on her body as much. Also the text is just either un needed in my opinion, or it could be changed. I'd think everyone knows its rainbow dash. Just to let the whole picture soak in more and the colors work their magic. It kind of draws the attention to it, and the font just seems weird for the picture.

I dont mean this to be offensive, you did a great job. just saying what i personally think :p

what program do you use? everything i try looks like shit.

I'm not a fan of the show, but this wallpaper is superb! The only thing I would change is the font thickness (or just the font, itself) and the colour of the letters. I don't feel it fits the theme of the page as well as it could.
