I don't care for shipping, and I'm not here to defend it; however, they have already made relationships and marriage canon within the show. They've even made birth canon, which is implying that some point in time Mr. Cake and Mrs. Cake fucked each other. Forget about that last part though. Why is it ok for normal couples to be dating/married but not gay couples? They don't want this in the show because it's bad for kids or something? Doesn't that sound kind of... ignorant? Again I don't care either way, but it seems kind of silly once you consider what they've already made canon within the show, don't you think?

Unless I'm mistaken I don't believe Lauren Faust has creative control over MLP: FiM anymore, but yes you're more than likely correct about the current fact that Mane six shipping will remain in the fandom only and not cannon. On the flip side, I don't see the harm in letting people think up whatever silly connections they want. I didn't think you (I know Lauren doesn't) have anything against gays, but that's how it would seem to someone from the outside looking in at that kind of a conversation.
