RD actually has a reason to be proud of herself, but despite that she's demonstrated insecurities and fear of failure. When she became intoxicated with praise, though, she was taught a lesson and accepted it. When Trixie had to face the fact that she wasn't all that great, she reacted opposite of RD by running away and continuing her denial. It's not who you know, but whether you let your friends and surroundings teach you or not.
