I think it's a bit hard to say cloppers, haters, and reposts are all the same thing and need to be treated equally, but I see your point. Lemme just try and clear up a few things.

Cloppers: These guys DO need to be tolerated. Their activities don't affect anyone other than themselves, so you have nothing to get upset about. They keep their R34 ponies in specific places, so you're only going to find them if you go looking for them. You don't have to love them, but you shouldn't give them shit for what they do. Tolerance means accepting that others like certain things even if you don't like it personally

Reposts: We have every reason to dislike reposts. People seem to take "love and tolerace" as something way too black and white. We try to love and tolerate other people, but we do not have to love and tolerate everything. Reposts are just as irritating to bronies as they are to anyone else, so we have no reason to love or tolerate them. To try and keep pony posts at a high quality (very frequently not the case here on FJ) it is necessary to condemn the reposts and support the new material.

Haters: Again, we have no reason to love and tolerate haters. We love and tolerate people if they are different, but we do not love or tolerate people if they are obnoxious cunts. If you're trying to piss people off then you deserve to be hated. To use a more extreme example, you wouldn't love or tolerate a murderer or a rapist because they are actively trying to hurt others.

TL;DR 'Love and Tolerace' are buzzwords for the brony fandom, but they are not to be universally applied.

You had me until reposts. I've said this before, but if I haven't seen it, it's not a repost to me. The post is to point out those hypocrites who CLAIM to love and tolerate everything yet can't seem to withhold a bitchfit about these topics.
User avatar #811 to #171 - lankygit **User deleted account** (04/05/2012) [-]
I think what you're referring to is a more general FJ reaction to reposts. All FJ bronies were your standard FunnyJunkers before they were bronies, so they're going to have the same juvenile bitchfit reactions they always had.
User avatar #812 to #811 - MitsukiOokami (04/05/2012) [-]
Indeed, but if they really did follow "Love and tolerance" like many claim they do, they wouldn't be throwing these infantile bitchfits.

>then you watch it because you like cartoons
Damned straight!

I also enjoy watching cartoons about a children's card/video game; subject matter doesn't really account for too much.. (Yugioh and Pokemon)

I understand pokemon and yugio youre watching animated monsters fught each pther with lasers and shit is pretty cash, but watching little ponies talk about their feelings...its super gay

"talk about their feelings"

That's called "character development."
#144 to #139 - N. Korean citizen (04/04/2012) [-]
Its not character development if they blatanly say im sad rather than it actually develop through the show that the character is feeling depressed

okay, but I really don't expect you to like it, but have fun.
User avatar #136 to #134 - dzamie (04/04/2012) [-]
Okay, I think I've found the problem. Gen 4 ponies (the current ones) are vastly different from the previous ones, since the show is made so that both the children and the baby-sitters and parents who have to watch it with said children can enjoy it.
Also, Rainbow Dash can fly at over 768 mph in order to break the fucking sound barrier. I don't think I've seen a Pokemon do that yet; if one has, please link me to the video.
#142 to #136 - N. Korean citizen (04/04/2012) [-]
[url deleted]
Pidgeot one of the most basic pokemon in the game can fly twice the speed of sound.
Ive yet to meet a grown man or even woman that would enjoy watching a program aimed at young girls thats basically conditioning them to accept people for who they are.
I agree with what theyre doing but i dont understand how anyone our age or gender could stand wathing it.
#149 to #142 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
That's because you've been conditioned culturally to view things from a certain perspective and expect certain things from selected individuals.

I'm not saying you have to LOVE the show, but why the fuck does it concern you that others happen to enjoy it?

I might like my little pony, but that still doesn't stop me from liking and drawing stuff like this picture here

User avatar #156 to #152 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
WHY do we need gratuitous violence in what we watch? or why do we need sexual themes or big men beating the piss out of each other with guns and machines?

why can't something be lighthearted, cute, fun, and positive while still having developed characters and a good sense of humor? With imaginative concepts and world building ideas and mythology.

a grown man doesn't have to stick to some imaginary set of standards in what he finds appealing. some of us might be a bit more sentimental than others, some of us are probably tired of all the grim, depressing themes that are in most shows, some of us are probably big fans of animation and find this show to be executed especially well.

I'm not going to look at something and think "would someone who bases what they like on masculinity watch this?", I'm going to look at it and ask "do I like this?", and decide from there.

I think they're finished over here as well...either that or there's another episode to go (I haven't seen a couple of the most recent ones).

what's a bigger shame is that these seasons don't last at all that long, just 6 short weeks and then it's another waiting period.

still one of my all time favorite series, love how they're going about the zombie apocalypse theme.

Yeah mine too i think there might be 1 left it is a pain how short they are im thinking of getting the comic books as everyone raves about how much better they are but i still have hous as place number 1 in my hearts.
the zombie apocolypse could finally become a reality now that vladamir poutin is researching into a "zombie gun" lol im actually not joking its been on the news in the uk You can find the teports on google

can't people have varied tastes?

It's like music, I don't just sit there and listen to one type of music, I bounce around all kinds of genres all the time.

in regards with television, I'll enjoy some walking dead, sons of anarchy, adventure time, and then I'll watch some my little pony: Friendship is Magic.

do you know how annoying it is when children use incorrect terminology, and generally how much they talk about things they don't even know?

sociopathy is a subset of anti social personality disorder, it consists of people with the socially detrimental aspect of not being able to associate with other individuals, feeling no form of remorse or empathy for others, and acting on compulsion. This is in no way related to people wanting to watch a cartoon.

I don't "learn" from the show, it certainly reminds me of certain things, and I think on them and appreciate them a little more, but it doesn't teach me anything I already know.

It's just refreshing to finally enjoy something that's humorous and made with quality that's actually cute and positive.
#186 to #153 - N. Korean citizen (04/04/2012) [-]
Like i said a SIGN of sociopathy is emmotional immaturity not the only trait.
And before you jump on that i never said you were sociopaths i said you were bordering on sociopathy asin showing a sign. More of a joke than genuine concern for any of your well being.
#159 to #153 - N. Korean citizen (04/04/2012) [-]
Thats it then ive never found the show funny and i wouldn't watch something because its cute. And i wouldnt say after watching a couple of episodes the show was well put together the plotline is predictable but then again i think thats because the target adience is like 3
User avatar #160 to #159 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
well yeah, the show was meant for young children, it's not going to be too complex.

however, the show has shown significant growth since the beginning of the first season. The animators have taken notice of this adult fanbase, and have started making the show, bit by bit, more mature.
#178 to #160 - N. Korean citizen (04/04/2012) [-]
Any examples of the changes?
User avatar #191 to #178 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
episodes from the first season were more focused on what you described, just simple things learning about the aspects of friendship, where they dealt with things such as bullying, acceptance, understanding, and other such topics. they all had a point, because in the end their lessons made them strong enough to defeat a being of chaos.

however, this season has focused much more on the characters and how they develop, focusing on improving themselves and their personalities. Where the first season had some character development, this one has A LOT.

an example would be one of the recent episodes, it just hit on a lot of emotion and how a character was dealing with her insecurities, and how her friend, one who was usually fairly insensitive and brash, supported her (showing development herself from past episodes).
#231 to #191 - N. Korean citizen (04/04/2012) [-]
Sounds like you're right. Im sure if i could get past the fact its aimed at children and its about ponies d be able to enjoy it.
User avatar #758 to #231 - zionsype (04/04/2012) [-]
It was actually aimed for teenagers but Lauren Faust couldn't get a deal for a more "grown up" channel because TV producers didn't expect teenagers would like it.
