I don't understand why anyone would be so into cartoon ponies that they make up 'relationships' for them. I don't hate the show, I just...can't see why anyone would care.

It's mainly because people like to explore the possibilities of a relationship between characters from the show. Plus, it's pretty damn adorable.

Trust me, a few months ago I would have agreed with you, but now I've warmed up to it a lot.
