I love how TV shows never feature anything that you'd encounter in real life. There are people with mental disabilities, fat people, amputees, people with terrible teeth etc in real life but you never see them on TV. I have no idea of what is so offensive about reality.
A question I continually ask myself is, why am I suddenly not allowed to like someone with a mental handicap? It's as if I'm being denied the ability to appreciate her for who she is, instead being forced to pity them. I hate it when we put them up on pedestals where nobody can see them, for fear that they will not be accepted or everybody just naturally hates them on sight. To be honest it kind of sickens me that people get offended over the existence of people who aren't "normal".
