That depends on what standard the gold is compared to. If the gold IS the standard, then the value of gold is considered static, and the value of the other things will change. Gold's value only changes here because it is no longer the standard against which all currency is compared.

You do realize gold is a limited resource, correct? And though the owners of said gold mines would have wealth, they would have no food or entertainment or shelter on their own, so they spend their wealth to those who have the skills to provide what they can not, and they, in turn, spend the money on things they desire, thus, an economy is formed and continuously cycling, balanced. They don't have a fluid currency like the United States, thus they will not have the economic fluctuations responsible for recessions, no one gets a raise, but they don't NEED a raise, as, even if they don't have the currency to purchase what they want, they can offer services in trade, much as was done before currency was the norm. Their economy is such that they don't need an entire committee to watch over it, because it will run itself just fine.
