While I do believe you are to be commended for actually noticing that, I don't think many people 'round here appreciate such knowledge...

No, no it's not.
The chords for Pachelbel's Canon are I, V, vi, iii, IV, I, IV, V, I.
The MLP theme isn't much more than I, vi, ii, I.
They are in the same key though.

well actually if you play the "pachelbel's canon" chord progression in arpeggios for the top 3 strings of the guitar (the high ones) and replace the end Tonic chord with a IV chord, you'd be playing the MLP theme song from the singing at the beginning to the moment when Rainbow Dash zooms into Ponyville in a rainbow spiral.

The Canon progression isn't a progression in the theme song. Rather, it's the melody and the rest is the "underlying harmony" (made that term up, not good with music vocabulary).

From that point on (when the guitar and bass start), the song turns into a generic pop progression of I's, IV's, V's, and such (I have no will to figure it out)

Pretty much every popular song takes something from Canon in D, so that doesn't really surprise me.

Also, glad there are people here who actually know such things. Good job, OP.

I'm listening to Canon but I don't hear it. I'm thumbing up though because I'm sure it's in there somewhere and not many people notice that.

I only just now started listening to the theme song (three older sisters wear it out before it even began) and never hear of that song, so no.
