I can understand. The opening piano sounds nice, but I would have tried a lower scale.

This was a first attempt, so obviously I'm new to this and trying to improve. Could you explain what you mean by a "lower scale" please?

Just try playing the opening scales in a lower scale progression. Say you play an E Major scale, try lowering to an E minor scale. You may have to alter how its done, since it doesn't always transfer perfectly. Whats a good example...hmm...ever listen to Raining Blood by Slayer? Basically, listen to it and listen to 0:33 - 0:44. Its the shift in pitch you want to listen for. I'm not a pianist, so it will most likely be a little different. Its all about pitch shift in the progression.
