I watched a documentary about Bronies on netflix. I always wanted to try and understand it to some degree. I actually have gained an appreciation for this fandom. For those of you who have watched it, I am not so stupid as to think that what was shown is what it is ALL about. I do appreciate the realism that had been incorporated into it. I just wish they would have gone over touchier subjects instead of getting overly repetitive (even if that was , in their views, necessary to get the message across to the concerned parents/others watching it.) Overall, you guys seem to be pretty alright.

It's actually pretty simple:

MLP is by nature considered as anti-masculine. People react to it like it's a girly thing, and it is. Yet, the show has quality; maybe it's not Hollywood's next big revelation, but it's not bad. People enjoy it if they leave their prejudges behind.

But for some people, watching it is gay. Particularly FJ's community has repeatedly proved that its population doesn't get laid in a regular basis, and most of the users tend to have self-esteem issues. For them, finding such a gay thing fun would make them doubt of their masculinity. It's not like other fandoms, let's say, Doctor Who, where they use reason to justify their hatred (the show sucks, monsters aren't scary, etc). They simply call bronies fags. They feel that if they even give it a chance, they might be fags as well. And FJers don't want that, because here that's the ultimate insult, so they simply close their minds and don't allow it to be part of their lives.

FunnyJunk doesn't like ponies because it's afraid to be gay.

Any anime ever + mlp

Harcore zombie survival games, all the sudden bam ponies.

It's a big fandom consisting of an alternate universe, making "crossovers" a little more feasible than others. It doesn't help that the show has obvious reference pony designs based off Doctor Who, The Big Lebowski, Back to the Future, etc.
Does this excuse it? Not really, but with any group you will have these people. Bronies have a dual disadvantage of having a fair sized fanbase, and controversy of being for little kids, so people post this **** everywhere.

I don't entirely understand it either. You can google image search any character from any series in existence, and you will see at least one ponified fanart picture. I don't mind it mostly, some are actually really well done (like this one of GLaDOS). As for the crossover fanfiction, it's pretty simple. People are curious. They want to know what a MLP + Fallout/DBZ/Whatever would be like. And that's great and all, but a line is drawn at spreading it everywhere on the internet, shoving it in where it's not wanted. bow chicka bow wow As long as it's not being spammed, I see no reason not to let them have their fun with it.

Brony fandom IS bigger than people tend to think and there is this somekind of obsession in this fandom to do something: drawing, animations, mods etc. It is just the mood that because everybody does something maybe i should do something.

One reson too is the show itself: it is happening in alternative universe and it has 6 main characters and the show itself doesnt go so deep in characterdevelopment. I just happens to be a perfect buildinground with many characters and different world etc, for people to do something of theirselves. Almost none of the fanfiction, drawing animations doesn't actually fight against events in the show, because the show doesnt itself have almost any remarkable events.

I understand why people hate so ponycrossovers, but what we can do about it? If you come across with somekind of DBZ + MLP crossoverthing in the internet, is it the fandoms fault? Some individual person has drawn that, not the fandom.

If you see some crossover on the internet about some favourite game, show or book, dont get mad at it, just skip it. Some artistic brony in this world just happens to like that same thing as you do and wanted to do art about it. Believe me, we have plenty websites of our own to share the art, but the ammount of stuff this fandom is producing is just so much that it is imossible to keep it in certain pages.

tl:dr Just skip the crossovers; there's no way stopping them and it makes you feel better than complaining about them

Bowling (Big Lebowski) Scene the biggest thing is that it's so easy to do, and some are even given to us by the show itself, like the video Big Lebowski reference) , or a pony that looks a lot like david tennant as the doctor

plus when you have a universe so big, diverse, and uncovered by canon, it becomes easy to imagine something being thrown in there somewhere

i will agree, that sometimes crossover artists go overboard, like getting a crossover of dbz, doctor who, pokemon, yugioh, and mlp... all in one but things like fallout equestria (which i've only read about 1/4 so far, but i still love it) they only combine the two things, mlp and "blank", there's even a halo crossover that this guy started that is nothing like all the other crossovers, instead of them going to mlp, mlp goes to them, (******* twilight melts hunter armor and blasts a jackal's face in half in the third chapter, what the ******* ****) and its done very well

People like merging two things they like in hopes it'll bring double the enjoyment or potentially a new feeling. I don't understand the appeal to Fallout: Equestria (the most popular MLP crossover) even though it's everywhere and although I do not like Fallout myself, I can understand why some people would love a crossover between the two. The feel of Fallout in a different world we recognize with familiar characters has a lovely appeal to it for some. The fact that we're such a massive fandom is the reason why we see a lot of crossovers, and I'm actually kind of sorry. I don't like swamping folk who don't like MLP or seeing a GTA post with some kind of either ****** or well-known GTA/MLP artwork/video/thing since not everybody likes both, but to some it can hold an AMAZING appeal and bring forth enjoyment some or lots may appreciate.

Pic related, it's artwork for a semi-crossover/concept pony fic involving football inspired by Eyeshield 21 that I and another author/artist have created.

I'd really like to apologize for the rabid, relentless onslaught of MLP crossover things that have come since the show's creation. Not all of us are decent guys but some can try.

Have a good day, sir~

I agree, though I personally like Fallout Equestria and a few other crossovers, they can be good if done right and not forced. This... ******* this...

I do not care that people like the show, buy merchandise, **** ponies and do normal pony art but when I'm for example browsing elohell.net (which is like funnyjunk for league of legends) I do not want to see (poorly drawn/traced) characters from the game as ponies.
One other example is the Papers Please game. It is almost an art of a game but then someone decided to do a "Ponies Please" mock-up video. Fortunately it was not a real game but it still was completely unnecessary, pointless and really ******* weird crossover.

The argument "Well, do not watch" is invalid. If I'm browsing elohell or any other site, I'm forced to see them and when I see them, they piss me off.

I have to agree with you somewhat, some things are just better off not happening, like a pacific rim/mlp crossover, yes freedom to do what you want but just...there's a line somewhere. Also it's a small group that is responsible for that kind of crap that people see, don't let your image of them carry over to those that have done nothing

Yep, I'm all for creative expression but generally crossovers should happen when there's some kind of common ground, I really don't see how you can get any further from MLP than pacific rim. I like both but they just aren't meant to go together at all, but like a Godzilla and Pacific Rim crossover would make more sense

I think you rustle too easily. Its just a collection of pixels, and its pretty easy to avoid.
I dont like greentext stories and when i see them (which is more often then you see ponies) I dont go and rant about it to those who will blindly agree.

Bronies think that they are an oppressed group that is understood by no one when in reality no one gives a **** and you are trying to hard to be an edgy outsider by liking a children's show meant for girls and no matter how many "hugs" or "brohoofs" you get from your brony pals, your parents die a little on the inside at the sight of you.

This goes for 85 percent of brony fandom, since I know people that don't give themselves a stupid ass name like "brony" and just casually enjoy the show.

I used to identify as a brony, but have long since left the group. In my experience, I used the community to feel like I had a place during a particularly lonesome time in my life, but needed it less and less as people started actually talking to me IRL. At which point I saw that they're a bunch of self-congratualtulatory ***** who think they're the first/only fandom to ever exist, and have this ridiculous persecution complex. And no matter how many deny it, a good 60% of them masturbate to candy color horse porn.

Oh look, a guy wearing a fedora thinking he's
better than OTHER guys wearing fedoras.

Oh look! The "oh I so was a brony and then I was huurrrr", as if not liking a show anymore makes him cool!

And now LOOKIE HERE, a guy calling a guy who loves a kids cartoons a faggot, after playing Pokemon on his Nintendo handheld(or emulator) less than a few days ago.
I'm sure he'll be more likely to get laid than a neckbeard brony.

And here I am, with my anime, my pony plush, and my top hat.
****Tips top hat****

I think we should leave those bronies alone.
They like pretty much everything else we like.
Let us not be rude, but be classy.

Let's ALL WEAR TOP HATS AND MONOCLES, and be gentlemen.

To be classy,
be polite to others, kind, and considerate.
Be generous to the needy and poor.
Be not swaggy or showing off what you own(other than your top hat).
And be helpful to others who are in dire need of class.

And most importantly, tip your top hat, and give one to those who do not have enough class.
Everybody absolutely MUST know the joys of classiness.

And my dear beautiful ladies, top hats aren't just for men.
You must look gorgeous in top hats too!

Please, share your story with me as well.
I do so love to meet fellow gentlemen with class.

2009- Highschool first sex, on sophomore year after graduation in her parents room.
2009-Same night
2010- Got a nymphomaniac girlfriend...
2010
2010
2010
2010-Final, I had to leave. My penis felt less classy.

2011- Found new love once again, beautiful Heather, was hesistant to go to bed with me,.
2011
2011

2012- Had too much fine wine, and had sex again drunk, nearly got my precious gf pregnant. In the scare, we broke up from far too much stress, and little classiness.

2013- Friend with[ CLASSY benefits]

2013 remained classy and sexless for the rest of the year until Newyears recently.
2014, reunited with ex girlfriend, and the classy love continues.

We wear top hats now.

Edgy? Nonono.
We must be CLASSY.

Come, nortledrones my friend.
Let's travel the world and its beautiful sense of classiness.
From its mercury-streaks, to the felt black surface of the top.

You sir, thumbed me down and red.
I think you are telling me you want a RED! Top hat.

Silly me, how could I have been so neglectful of a fellow gentleman's wishes?
Here you go, young chap.
We need to learn to love one another, and help one another.

Classiness is more than money and material, but classiness rests in the heart, too.

Let's be fellow gentlemen, and show this unclassy world what it means to be classy together. Let's rid ourselves of this hate and anguish, and replace it with wealth for everyone's hearts and wallets.

Even though I watch the show I agree with this. Although I thankfully don't see it too often, it pisses me off when I do. The worst I've ever seen was when somebody said that coming out as a brony was just like coming out as a gay/lesbian.

That is because he is NOT wearing a top hat.
One must embrace one's own flaws and gain self esteem.

Fedoras are for gangsters and sleeks of the street.
Wear a top hat, it says you have class.

Embrace the classiness, share good will to the world.
Wealth is about being rich in many ways.
A rich man can have a poor personality.
A poor man can have a rich heart.

Be a classy wealthy man with BOTH.

Like I still think the show's fine, and obviously not for everyone. But the bronies who are acting as if they're being opressed like homosexuals or non-Caucasian peoples across the world or hell even women is ********. The thing is, I've yet to hear of any story of some guy being beaten to death because he wore a pony shirt. Why? It's too dumb a ******* reason, its a god damn children's show. So my honest feelings on the subject is bronies need to step back and realize its just a cartoon.

I hate the term brony, its a cartoon. I don't need to label myself for something you just happen to decide to watch. I thought the same thing of the terms like Trekkies. Just because you're enthusiastic about something doesn't mean you have to start getting special treatment.

MFW Bronies who think they're special for watching a show.

its mainly because this whole adult fandom over a little girl's cartoon is challenging the predetermined norm for males that their supposed to like boy things just like girls can only like girl things wait no girls are an exception because then feminists will get mad.

its just that this thing is treated as the biggest attack against masculinity since stay-at-home dads.

Stomp your feet and scream enough and someone will look at you. The documentary is a piece of ****. It's like, they did all they could to show only the bad people of the fandom. Think of it as if someone made a documentary on Anime lovers and only showed a bunch of fat hairy guys screwing anime girl pillows. From what I've seen on it anyways.
