I just read your previous post, and you do realise that is straight up plagiarism, right? You cannot just arrange someone else's copyrighted music and distribute it, and I have no doubt that Hasbro has all sorts of copyrights on that ****. You need to tell your teacher/director/whatever where you got the music and make sure you're not breaking any laws.

I am 100% serious. DO NOT GET SUED JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK THIS WILL BE A FUNNY "troll".

Im aware. But I Honestly doubt Hasbro is tracking every sign of music, let alone im almost 3 days of travel away, and sew me for doing a FAN-MADE song?

It's not fan-made. It's an arrangement, which is still protected by copyright law, especially if it was published by ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, or Kendor.
"many business owners and songwriters fiercely protect their melodies with copyright law, although specifics of the law get complicated depending upon when the song was written or if it’s recorded."
"The U.S. Copyright Office only grants copyright to melodies that are secured in a fixed, tangible format. This may be a sound recording of a musician performing the melody or a sheet music transcription of the piece."
I'm guessing this applies to the piece you looked at.

Instead of "quit being stupid" as a retort, do some actual ******* research.

Quit stomping our fun. Nobody else brought this up before. I agree with your statement but stablefree/living tombstone would probably not sue me considering I have REWROTE the entire thing, changed many parts, and haven't even named it discord.

How about this: Check the restrictions for the particular piece you arranged, as well as it's publishing company, and ask someone knowledgeable in the area of music copyright (and I mean something better than your friend who's dad is a lawyer).
I honestly think it's great that you wrote an arrangement. I've written several brass quintet arrangements, as well as some original works, but there's no reason to let your stubbornness get your ass sued.

That's the point. That melody, that you took from an mlp song, is NOT PUBLIC DOMAIN. You do not have the rights to use it just because a different instrument is playing it, and it's got a different title. Somehow you've convinced yourself that you know the details of copyright law, when you clearly don't.

Ignorance is bliss I guess.
PS. You're still a dick for not telling your friends you didn't come up with it.

Plagiarism is taking something and claiming it to be your own. Imitation is not the same as plagiarism, and is more akin to praise than anything.
