1: I saw pony comics here on FJ and funny pics which I soon started to search untill I dicovered Ponytime, then I watched the first Episode just a day later and the rest untill I cought up with season 2 the following two days.

2: Kind of hard to describe, now I would say: 1/3 because of the show itself, 1/3 because of all the fan-made stuff made around the show (music, comics, pics, gifs, games, fan-fictions, etc, etc) and 1/3 of the nicest community I have ever met and don't want to miss anymore.

3: ...eh...well...uumm....<---this for example, I sometimes use Fluttershy style

4: No

5: If you feel like being part of it, you are part of it. Easy as that.

Good luck with your work.

1. I first started watching the show as a joke, but found it was actually very enjoyable, and kept secretly watching until I soon enough discovered the community.
2. The show is fun, more mature, and has fantastic animation and writing, and is professionally made.
3. We use things like 'buck' instead of ' ***** , 'everypony', 'anypony', 'Pegasister' for female bronies, etc.
4. There isn't really a hierarchy, but there is definitely a separation in groups, such as writers, Tumblrpon's, artists, etc.
5. Watch the show, get into some fics or artists, listen to some songs, and boom. You're in.

1. I kept seeing things on FJ about ponies and I didn't understand the jokes. After a while and finding out that one of my friends was a brony, I watched all the episodes in secret late at night. I joined just in time for the wait for season 3. Then I found the community, which made it solid. I am now trying to make music.
2. It's animated well, the colors are gorgeous to look at, the voice acting is amazing, it has that charm that makes you feel like you're a kid again, the fandom, the interaction of the staff and the fandom, the stories, the deep characters, and the fact that I can relate to them and use lessons in real life to better myself.
3. We replace our vocabulary with what the characters in the show say, and we sometimes respond like a character in the show would.
4. I don't think so. In terms of power, there aren't any, but there is one for how well one is known within the community.
5. Just like the show. You can create art, music, etc., but that's optional.

1. Curiosity

2. I'm not sure I know. I just like it, like any other show.

3. I couldn't tell you, i'm not much of a brony community person anymore. I call myself a brony, use some of the lingo I can remember from the old days, but y'know, I just stick to the show.

4. Answer 3

5. Answer 3

1: Ponies: the anthology, a real awesome video

2: well its funny, cute, good story where episodes dont lore rape eachother

3: buck= **** for example, brohoof=brofist, clop=fap, anybody everybody, replace "body" by "pony"

4: well some do hate cloppers, as stated in 3, the fappers

5: whenever they want to, try equestria daily: biggest brony fanbase

1. I really, really hated MLP "generation one" since the kids were small (and I had to watch!) , and when I heard the buzz about MLP on the internet i wondered what the hell was going on. This was in february 2011, because I started watching it right before "Sonic rainboom" aired. This was just curiosity, you understand... But it got me line, hook and sinker. My wife and youngest daughter (13) loves it too and we watch it together.

2. Not because of the cutsey stuff. No, I love the well-written dialogue, the humor is layered like Shrek with lots and lots of adult jokes, even about sex and alcohol. But most of all it has more pop culture references than PVP online and Questionable Content rolled together. Even lots of horror and war movies get their due! Read mlp.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_allusions and be amazed, and they have even missed a lot. Also the music is great.

3. "X is best pony" used to be a common banter, usually involving a character who is not, in fact, a pony. For example Tom (a rock) or Steven Magnet (a sea serpent. That name is a... Long story) Pony is also commonly spelled Poni or Pone. Also faget or fagit is a term of endearment because we so often get to hear that we are in actually homosexuals of the highest order.

4. No... but by now there are several communities. On /b/ there used to be a few prominent bronies like Cupcake, Quill and Hupony, don't know about the others really. but if Lauren Faust (creator of the current incarnation of MLP) or Tara Strong (Voice actress for the main character) tell us to jump, we jump.
Also, everybody knows Lunargreenhouse has us whipped.

5. Visit 4chans /mlp/ board, equestria daily, ponychan, my little brony or the FJ pony board. Post, be friendly and discuss the show. Visit bronycon if you are lucky enough to live on the right continent.

Thank you all so much, I really did get a better turn out than I was expecting, this is all very helpful! I was actually afraid to come back and check on this but I'm very happy with the response I got.

1. Friends and curiosity.
2. It's innocent, captivating, the characters and concepts are fleshed out, they focus on character development - in other words, it's everything G3.5 wasn't.
3. 'Buck' instead of **** , sometimes 'Pegasister' for a female brony, 'Clop' for fapping to ponies, 'everypony' 'anypony' 'somepony' and 'nopony'.
4. No, not really, but there are certainly different types of bronies.
5. Just by watching the show, really. If you watch it and you enjoy it, you're a brony. However, others have different views on this and some even say you have to contribute fanart/music to be a real brony, but I think you're one enough by enjoying the show.

1. Ponies invaded this site, and I got curious, so I dabbled in it and got hooked.
2. great animation, story telling, all the stuff the community does with it, the creators are part of the community, characters with personality, and overall something different.
3. plot (butt), pon, pon3, brony (duh), brohoof, im sure other comments give you more.
4.not really heirarchy, just different types of bronies. Moderates, Creatives, and hipsters. I personally place creatives above the rest because I feel like they are the major backbone to the community and without them we would be so much smaller and less impressive. (im moderate)
5. just watch the show and do what you wish, wether its create content, enjoy content, or nothing and simply say youre in the community. Its all about love, tolerance and acceptance.

1. A youtube video called "Remove Parasprite" which I'll have to go and watch now, the animation caught my eye + I remember that I used to watch the previous animations when I was small.

2. The animation, voices and story mostly.

Pretty much no answers for the rest of the questions because I have no idea what they mean.
User avatar #17 - ponchovia (03/03/2013) [-]
1) it was a friend of mine who was on leave who got me to start watching the show.
2) i've enjoyed the show for the story line, good animation, and the characters well rounded attitudes and personalities.
3) in some cases i've seen the use of 'somepony, everypony, or even bro hove' but other than that (and its mostly due to how little i interact with others) i haven't noticed much of anything else.
4) as far as i can tell there is no hierarchy, like some fandoms its mostly every one coming together to talk about the show, joke around, and even throw a few feelings into the mix just to see what happens. and even if there was a hierarchy i don't think any one would follow them (i know i wouldn't, a group of independent minds that think differently is far better to have a conversation with about the show than a bunch of people that just do a lot of ass kissing and say yes and i agree with that all the damn time).
5) to become part of the community just watch the show and make the choice to join... ...can't get any easier than that, some of us have a few ground rules set to follow but its by choice as to whether or not to follow them.

1. There were ponies everywhere, people were hating it, I wanted to see what the fuss was about, gave it a chance, BOOM, brony.
2. I love the writing and animation. The jokes and lines are cute and innocent. The characters are well-developed (not to mention they're all ridiculously adorable). The fanwork is what amazes me the most: the music, art, and fics. It all makes me feel good and happy, away from all the sadness and b.s in life.
3. Ones commonly from the show: 20% cooler, 10 seconds flat, "Worst. POSSIBLE. THING" bronies came up with brohoof and make up the pony-puns and crossovers to everything else. Ex: PonyHoof (facebook)
4. Most common hierarchy goes as follows: hater, mlp fan, brony, hardcore brony, ponyfag. there's more that branch off from there I think.
5. Give the show a chance, give your own opinion, etc.

1. I had depression that I needed to take my mind of of it so I decided to see if the show would help.

2. Great story, amazing characters, great morals, fantastic animation.

3. Brohoof, 20% cooler, *inhale* yay.

4. Not really, no.

5. Watch the show and enjoying it.

1: a few of my friends watched it, i decided to check it out.
2: The music, animation, characters, community ect there is nothing not to love (except hasbro)
3: brohoof, brony, (rarely) pegasister, clopper, (occasionaly) replaceing " **** " with buck"
4: most dislike haters, some discriminate cloppers
5: just by watching the show, no real requirements other than not being a hater. Anyone can be a brony and its probably the coolest, least hating community on the internet
#9 - nephrithotroll (03/03/2013) [-]
1. because bronies kept acting like it was a good show.
2. I don't even I have seen the whole first season and opening of the second one.
3. ask a local brony.
4. pretty much compared to the nazi's.
5. watch it, enjoy it, love it until your body and mind start to change into that of a animated pony.

1. What made you first watch MLP?
Curiosity I guess? I had seen pictures and small previews and it looked cool so I checked it out

2. Why do you like the show?
Unlike the old versions, this my little pony offers a new look and feel to the subject once thought of as the girliest thing ever invented

3. What kind of jargon/ lingo does the community use?
Bro Hoof (Like bro fisting but for bronies) Cloppers (in my opinion, the scum of the brony community, these people masturbate to fan made pornographic pictures of the ponies on the show)

4. Is there any kind of hierarchy in the community?
No, not really (not that I know of at least). Every brony treats others (weather they be haters or lovers of the show) with respect. And every brony is equal.

5. How does one become apart of the community?
You become a "part of the community" when you have an interest in the show. Does this mean you have to run around spreading your joy of the show in everyone's faces? No, but as long as you show interest and say ya the show is fun and entertaining and you post a few pony pics here and there, then you are part of the community. Die hard brony fans post pony pictures constantly (not that there is anything wrong with that) and we gather at places to celebrate the show (such as bronyCon). I like the show a lot and have shown my love by having hundreds of MLP: FiM wallpapers for my computer! (posted is my current wallpaper) Hope this helped :)

1. Pony content on FJ eventually led to fanfiction, fanfics led to watching MLP.

2. I guess I just find it genuinely entertaining. It makes me happy, in a way.

3. Brohoof (brofist), bucking and buck (variations of **** ) what the hay (what the hell), everybrony, twenty percent cooler, flank (ass), plot (same as flank), etc. you can spend some time researching in a brony thread to get some more.

4. Hierarchy? Not quite. There are more respected members of the community for producing well-received content like fanfics and comics and the like, but nobody we follow like a leader.

5. Have an interest in MLP, and interact with the other members of the community.
User avatar #1 - auraguardian (03/03/2013) [-]
1. I wanted to see what the big deal about it was.
2. i found it entertaining in the first 2 seasons, the third was a bit dull but I watched it anyway, i guess I prefer the funny content made and the memes, but you cant really understand them without keeping in the loop of the series.
3. Brohoof. Pegasister, i guess thats the female term for brony. and the play on the word 'main' in the 'mane six'. I just watch the shows and go on the 'Image Board' every now and then (since its mainly spam) so i dont really know any terms.
4. pha nact seems to be popular
5. I dont know, like I said i just watch the series, I guess if you just ask a few question on some forums about the show, say your thoughts, get involved with a forum or board, you are welcomed into it.

More like ethnography on a discord community!
I am so so sorry

1.Curiosity after seeing it flood the internet
2.Very hard question. The characters, the voice actors, the story/plot good jokes and pop culture references.
3. Brohoof = brofist, anypony = anybody, nopony = nobody
4.In seriousness, no. Everyone is equal, for the most part. Actually we all worship Lauren Faust, in her guiding light shall we ascend to glory.
5.Well first you have to brand your thigh with a cutie mark of your choice... There's really no guidelines other than to enjoy the show. Everyone's welcome!
