I talked to this one brony and I asked: "Why do bronies like MLP?"
He responded with: "It teaches people friendship and love."
Faggot.

It actually does help teach tolerance though. Not by the show itself, but by liking the show you realize that different is not always bad (especially since most of us thought it was kinda gay)
But that's not why people watch it

I like it because I'm a perpetually angry douchebag and the show makes me momentarily happy. I actually think the show would be better without lessons about love and friendship and all that other stuff.

All teenagers/adults already understand the concept of peace and understanding. There is no need to say it out loud.

For an man to actually watch a child's(mostly girl's) cartoon for these reasons, yes.

The reasons most bronies watch the show is for things such as, the writing is decent, the animation is good, the jokes are fairly funny sometimes, and the characters are likable. There are others.. but for a man to say "we learn to love and tolerate from it" is just... wrong.

Why is that "wrong"? why is positive thinking and the willingness to be good natured something to look down on?
that makes absolutely no sense.

Because it's a child's cartoon about magic and unicorns. If a grown man learns about tolerance of others from THAT... yeah..

I doubt anyone "learned" about tolerance from the show, but it's certainly influenced people to be a bit more positive and open minded towards others.

Right.. right.. that's why
most
bronies hate and attack anyone who says anything bad about the show.

And that's a fallacy.
You cannot claim that it's
most
, there's nothing to suggest such a thing.
In my own experience, either discussion ensues, or someone goes "well that's your opinion," rarely have I seen a brony actually flame or hate someone for their opinion.
of course, it's different when the other person is being a total, irrational dick about it.

I'm a brony and I agree: that guy was a faggot.
We like the show for the same reason people like Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, and other cartoons like them. While they are for children, the jokes are good for all ages, and there are even some under the radar jokes that fly over children's heads but can be laughed at by adults.
Some of the creating staff even admitted that the show was supposed to be able to be enjoyed by the parents that would inevitably be watching it with their children.
