My Little Pony is almost a revolution in itself. It's throwing around society's views on what certain genders should watch. Laura Faust was always the type who didn't want girly shows to be "butterflies and rainbows and sparkles and pink". She wanted to show that girls shows can be enjoyed by boys too. The cartoon has classic cartoon humor, good plot and character development, and good animation. What more do you want? It's not all pink and sparkles and girly either.

I owe my thanks to FunnyJunk as well. Love the show and all of the fan-made parodies. Brings a little extra smile to my day. Have a kiss. :)
I heard about for a while around 4chan and here when they were midway through season 1, and the images I saw looked really, really well animated. But every time I Google'd "My Little Pony", I was faced with the old version. So I just gave up and let the internet play its fad.
A few months later, near the end of season one, I was talking to a friend at school. We were discussing current internet topics, when I mentioned the new pony show, knowing nothing about it. He thought I was a brony, holding up his fist for a brohoof and saying "Friendship is magic? :D". Even though I had no idea what was going on, I played along and acted like a brony because he looked so excited and happy to talk about it, and I wouldn't want to squash that enthusiasm. Later that night, I Google'd it once more, but now that I knew the version was called "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic", I could find it quickly. I only watched the first two episodes, and was excited by the animation style and overall character design, but wasn't in love with it just yet. Yet another month, now long after season one's completion, my long-term girlfriend left me inexplicably. (No this is not some sob story). Needless to say, I fell into a deep depression. And one day I started watching the third episode of season one, and was quickly brought up from that foul mood. And ever since then, I've felt a strong connection with the characters in the show, just like many other bronies.
inb4 you're a faggot.

Why is it that everyone seems to think watching a show is such a big deal? Fucking seriously, I'm not a hater, as you can see from my DP, I watch the show, but am I proud of it? No. Nor am I ashamed of it. It's just a fact that I watch it, it doesn't play some crucial role in who I am.
It makes no sense to be proud of the fact that you watch a show that - while you might say it teaches you life lessons - really doesn't teach you anything that you're actually going to take away from it.
TL;DR, watching a show shouldn't make you feel proud or ashamed.

I watched the snippet of the Sonic Rainboom show on here. Got me hooked instantly. Now I draw ponies all the time on an art site.... Scary, scary, but fun....
Well, I didn't know anything, I just started watching. The whole Minecraft Forum was lurking with ponies, decided: why not and liked it.
That's similar to my story.
I graduated from college and took a week off. Spent a lot of time on FJ that I didn't have before. Became "over exposed" to pony content. I learned about them and became fond of the content. I liked the idea of a non-religious and diverse community that preached love and tolerance. One night I decided to watch the first three episodes. Watched the next five the next day and so on. Within a week after graduation, I was a brony. The sad irony is my friends and I parted ways at graduation. They were all funnyjunkers and any of them could have been bronies as well, but I'll never know.
At any rate, I owe it all to FJ.

Yeah I became one after seeing all the pony stuff on here and decided to see what all the ruckus was about and watched the first few episode's and eneded up liking it.
A couple of my friends were Bronys, and I saw some of the memes online. one night I was bored so I went on Netflix saw it there went to "The Last Roundup" were my friends said this Derpy character talks, found myself pretty entertained watching the episode. after that turned it off, 5 minutes later "whatever got a feildtrip tommorow lets just stay up and watch more ponys." watched the first couple of episodes and whenever the theme came on I would think to myslef "why the hell are you watching this?" I don't think that anymore..... finished both seasons by end of that weekend, and I am now a Brony..
