I watched around 15 episodes and I liked it and then lost interest.

It's better than most of the newer kids cartoons today (and also the best one I've seen that was originally targeted towards a female audience)
Other than that and the fan base it has their's really nothing that special about it

Okay I just have to share my experience. I don't care if I get red thumbs because this is just fucking crazy and I'm sure it has happened to a few of you. So, I am on funnyjunk while I have 'An Idiot Abroad' on in the background. And I see your comment, and read your username. Not even half a second after I see your username, the host of the show says the word 'Killer Whale'... What are the fucking chances? How often do you hear the word Killer Whale in a month...and the one time you hear it...you read it in a totally different location. This isn't the first time this phenomena has happened to me.

I'm a brony and even I don't see anything special about it. I find the fans more interesting than the actual show. Noone executes rule 43 quite like them.

From my experience, it's not so much the show that is "life altering" as it is the community of people that have accepted it. There's dozens of websites dedicated to the fandom, but at the same time, I dont see many people talk about the show here on the website, except on the ponytime channel. The Pony Thread doesn't talk about the show so much as enveloping themselves socially and I think that's what this as grown into at this point; Social Congregation.

Imo the first two episodes are fairly painful and I don't like watching them either. If you did only watch the first two episodes, then I would give it a second chance, It gets much better after the pilot.

Yea, its tough to get into show unless you have watched the first two also. It helps you understand each character and their weaknesses and strengths. It helps you become more attached and relate to each characters. Although I don't like the pilot, it is critical to get to know the characters because without it, party of one/etc. won't make any sense or spark any feelings towards the characters because you don't understand Pinkie Pie as much as one would if they had watched it chronologically, or atleast the pilot, whether or not its good. Also, another merit of the show is its cuteness, it can help draw you into the world, thats the main reason that I kept watching, but it can easily make many cringe at the sight of the show itself

TL;DR : The first two episodes, although awful, help you get more into the show than just two random ones.

Yea, the show isn't for everyone. Can't force anyone to watch what they dont like.

I just can't stand when people will attack others just because they like the show. Its good you gave it a try, because most just don't like/hate blatantly without understanding or even giving the show a shot.

You just have the deal with the fact that its here, and probably isn't going away anytime soon...

I think part of it comes from people being so stern on their preconception that it leaves bronies with no choice but to hype it to convince them to even try it, and then when they finally cave, their original opinion gets reinforced when the show doesn't deliver on that hype.

It's sad, really. I love the show and the fandom to death, but it sucks when fans are forced to overreact when trying to convince others.

The girliest part of the show is that damned title sequence, and some of the songs, but the show is very similar to Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and is actually fun to watch.
