Who said anything about pretending? first of all that image is of a ranger TAB meaning ranger school. does not refer to the 75th Ranger Regiment which uses a scroll which is the unit i said i'll BE in. I never said I'm already in though i already have my 68W option 40 contract and once i graduate and finish basic ill complete rasp THEN i'll be a Ranger.

also, "Chairforce" not so much making fun of as being endearing, like airborne calling ground units "legs" marines being called "jarheads" and tankers calling infantry "speedbumps". A-10's are a ground unit's best friend and i am by no means bashing the air force.

Don't support the war, but support us troops. What we need is knowing we have people who care about us. As military men and women, we do what we are told, regardless of if we feel it is right.

And that's one of the big flaws isn't it? Just following orders.
This is why I don't think I am someone the military would like to have in their ranks.
I like to think, and make my own decisions.

We do think, we do have our opinions, but for as long as we are serving, we follow orders. Why not support the troops? If we disobey orders, it can go as far as prison. What's wrong with saying "I respect and support you for you, but I don't support the war you are forced to fight"

Wrong. I will be a soldier very soon, but I won't be used for killing. I will either work with computers for safety of the government, or translate for the military. I see this as more of a keeping peace rather than creating death.

Well we need those kinds of soldiers whether we like it or not. Another way to look at it, you should be glad you live in a country where people volunteer for service enough so that the government does not force everyone to join like many countries do. We only have to sign up for Draft, not for mandatory service.
Look at it that way, we take the job so you don't have to.

Those troops wouldn't be needed if nobody else had troops like that. And they do not belong over seas, going to war to get one man and then starting another war based on lies is just stupid. Trying to be the worlds police is just plain stupid, because it won't work out in the end.

So it's the troops fault that our government is a giant fuck-up? Blame the government, not the troops, we follow orders.
To make this more personal, we don't join to kill. We don't join to fight a war.
I joined to help protect my country and it's people. My family, my friends, even people like you. Fight for your right to say that we're murderers. I joined in honor of many of my ancestors who died in wars that were worth fighting. We did not join to kill, but to do something good for our fellow Americans and American Allies.

Hmmm, good point, but I watch the news, I know what some of the troops do down there, and that is not something that the US government is to blame for.
And sure I guess your ancestors war was worth fighting, but is this war worth fighting, because from my perspective it looks kind of useless.
And the war has done nothing good for any country, my country has only gotten terror threats and some more bodies to bury.

Yes, I know what SOME of the troops do in the Middle East, and it is disgraceful and puts a bad name to the rest of us, but that should not label all of us.
But that's not what I'm looking at when I join. Sure, I get pissed at the government for all of our country's dead children coming back, but that does not say anything about the troops, but about the government. I joined for my country, not for our fucked up politicians.
all-in-all, some troops are messed up, but they get dismissed, and the government is fucked up, but we still have good men and women in the Service.

Sure there are good people in the service, but face it troops are used for war, war is bad.
Sure you fight for your country, I would fight and die for mine if I had to. I hope the troops come back in one peace, but I don't support what they are being used for or what they do down there, because it's useless. So I guess I in a way support the troops. But they are currently not being used as guardians of peace, but for killing, and killing is bad.

Now let's look at it on a practical side. We need to get out of Afghanistan, I agree. But there are severe problems in N. Korea, China, Israel, and Iran that could be devastating to countries like America, Japan, S. Korea, England, Germany, etc.
Yes, our forces should be used for something else, but it is possible our presence out there is keeping Iran from launching WMDs, seeing as how we'd be on their ass in a couple hours at most.

I guess I can agree to that, sure, but if North Korea decided to do some shit, the troops are focused on the wrong area. I hope Obama manages to fix it, if a retard like Bush got 8 years Obama should also get 8 years.

Obama is better than all the Rep candidates.... And not ALL of our troops are in Afghanistan, it's just focused in the M.E. We have troops all over, including S. Korea, Japan, and I think even the Philippines to deal with any Asian-based threats.

Well yeah, I know you have troops all over, I'm just sayin' that it seems (from my point of view at least) focused on the Middle East, and to be honest I would be more conserned about North Korea, though I do see the reasons to be worried about Iran, I was kind of hoping that the revolutions in the arab world would spread to Iran, maybe it will later on we'll see.

Actually Pararescue is for anyone who enlists. According to Airforce.com and other sources, Pararescue is a job contract like all the other Enlisted jobs. The Tech School is quite long and extensive though. no the AF can't reserve you a job, but they will give you one of the jobs you have on the list. Pararescue is a much needed job, so chances are anyone who signs for it will get it. Although you have to be qualified for it (ASVAB score, Male, Strength test of I think L, no fears of heights or blood, etc.)

I had never said Pararescue was excluded from anyone (except women). You just can't go to your recruiter and say, "I want Pararescue". Its because of the endurance, strength, etc that people have to be able to obtain to be able to make it through their training. Take some time and watch a show called "Surviving the Cut" maybe youtube it and look for USAF Pararescue. Its pretty damn difficult to get through. People train for years to be able to make it through and be able to be called Pararescue men.

TL;DR: Pararescue is available to all male enlisted. Just you can't be sent specifically for it. You have to have a non spec ops job first, then apply.

My brother did, and all my recruiter said was "well they have a few extra tests for you up at MEPS, and if you pass those, you just gotta hope for an opening in the job field."
