ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Ron Paul

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient
mindset, When we accept or even welcome automobile
checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification
cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have
lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was
born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government,
Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve
freedom for long."
Ron Paul

Hmm. I doubt most american have ever realized that ultimate freedom is the same as anarchy.

Actually, it is.
True freedom is the ability to do what you want without consequences stemming from an organized government. I.E. Anarchy.
But as Anarchy is an extreme form of government (non-government? Anti-government?) it is by its nature going to inevitably fail, and rather quickly at that. Anarchy rarely lasts as small groups inevitably form into bands/tribes/gangs/ ect. generally with either a chosen leader or a strong arm in charge.
Constitutional Freedom, which is what America and most of the "Free world" has, is a set of laws detailing what freedoms the government gets from the people, not the other way around. I feel that is what has been forgotten in America, is that freedom stems from the people and not the government.

Pretty sure America wasn't born of mistrust of government, but misrepresentation thereof. Not to say I'm okay with an Orwellian state, but I rather think America's doing pretty good right now. I'm a chronic pirate and the NSA has yet to do anything about my juvenile activities.

Seriously man, don't tell people to "stay out of American Politics" if people from other countries have an interest in American politics that's their right, they might not know all the fact to make an educated opinion on American politics but then again neither do the majority of Americans themselves.

It also doesn't help that a large portion of Americans are politically ignorant and blindly follow the Obama DJ 4DM1Nistration. People view him like he is the damn messiah come to save the world. Wake up. Our government is riddled with hypocrisy and self interest and it is destroying this country.

I love how everyone who criticizes Ron Paul, just like in this thread, can never give a well thought out, reasonable explanation for why they think he is wrong. All they do is call him a cooky old conspiracy theorist because they don't understand him or simply don't want to believe what he is saying. Don't worry Dr Paul, when the burden of all their endless wars, endless welfare, limitless spying, and limitless spending all collapse on top of them, they'll have no choice but to listen. Unfortunately, most of that burden will fall to the American citizens, or as the government likes to call us, "collateral damage."
