in england no one has guns (apart from specialised armed units that only respond to gun related crimes which there are few) our normal police dont even have guns and 11,000 of us dont die every year from gun crime.

you can live with out guns the rest of us do.

But see, if someone just walked down the street in England shooting people with an assault rifle he'd probably kill about twenty people, but in America he might kill five or six before someone in the crowd shoots back. So you really have to ask, is it really worth banning them? I mean, if people continued shooting places up at the same rate they are now we'd be even worse off.

Im from England and i would feel a lot safer in a country without guns than one with them but in America they cant just ban guns like we did here in the UK, the UK is small and very easy to monitor and we are an island, smuggling guns into the UK is an INCREDIBLY difficult feat but since America borders Mexico and that border is almost impossible to fully monitor guns would still find a way to the criminals in America.

You don't have ridiculous amounts of illegal guns pouring over your border on a daily basis. America is in a situation where guns are present in criminals' hands regardless of any laws we make right now. The issue is whether taking licensed guns out of the hands of civilians will help anything (it probably won't).
User avatar #254 to #136 - fuckdisshit (01/27/2013) [-]
yeah but illegal guns get in so easily because the country allows guns. If there are no guns I doubt as many would get in because if you see someone with a gun you take it away instead having to check if its legal or not
#302 to #254 - chazzxz (01/27/2013) [-]
they get in because our southern border security is rubbish. If a border guard sees a gun he doesn't say "Hey that guy crossing the border has a gun, lets assume its registered and let him take it. Step one is border security, an issue nobody in our country is even talking about.

Switzerland has more guns per person than America
do you ever hear about gun crimes in Switzerland in the international media?
yeah didn't think so
User avatar #97 to #91 - inflatablewalrus (01/26/2013) [-]
its because americans are stupid not because of the guns. you should have to pass an IQ test to get a gun license

Your argument is about as sound as "But bills mom lets him have TWO weiners."
#66 to #24 - anonymous (01/26/2013) [-]
well if you don't have guns, of course you will have less gun crimes

however, that doesn't necessarily mean your crime rate is any better as a result. just a thought to think about

You'll probably die of infection within the first 72 hours of the outbreak than.

wait wait wait, you're telling me that because you guys banned guns you have less gun related incidents? pfft, you probably will also say that if you banned cars you will have less car related incident and if you banned pools you will have less drowning.
User avatar #98 to #41 - omarski (01/26/2013) [-]
school children don't get shot in the face in England.
User avatar #198 to #98 - cactaur (01/27/2013) [-]
that's what happens when you make places gun free zones.

Not exactly sure what you're getting at.

But anyway, whenever England and Australia banned guns violent crime shot up by astronomical levels, England is the most violent place in the EU I believe. For comparison, in the Czech Republic, you can buy new full autos and concealed carry and whatever you want. Less strict than the US once you get your basic license there. They're quite a peaceful and non-violent place.
#49 to #47 - mrbull (01/26/2013) [-]
Czech Republic and peaceful used in the same sentence. I didn't think I'd ever see the day. My uncle lives there, I've been there once and from that experience I'll never go there again. It is not peaceful and non-violent place.

The Czech Republic was 13th on the GPI this year, for comparison, the UK is 29th. There are tons more sources that show they're a peaceful country. The Roma account for 60% of the prison population and only a few percent of the actual population, so there's that. Also, the majority of crimes there are breaking into cars.

You clearly were in some Roma craphole neighborhood or you have no clue what you're talking about.

I plan on going, and know several people from there. What gave you the impression it wasn't a safe place? Apparently they hate on gay people though, just learned that.

the **** you doing?!?! Don't the red thumbs mean anything to you? You do not know how to conduct an argument in FJ. First of all you do not post links to support your argument, that there is just plain silly. What you have to do it divert the question or argument to a more emotional stand point and you must have it look like that those opposing your want to club baby seals and use their blood to summon the great lord Cthulhu. And, this is the important part, make a lot of name calling. The more the merrier i say. Finally you must end the argument as if you're opposition is beneath you and not worth arguing in the first place. Hope that helps you, you ignorant twat.
