Ugh, a bunch of ignorant self-entitled teenage children at it again, thinking they know a damn thing about the world.
Yes, it's true that we have the largest defense budget. However, it's also true that the Military produces some of the most innovative and evolutionary technologies the world has ever known. Our ability to finance such research has literally changed the world in a variety of different ways. The Internet, which we are obviously all using, was originally created by the U.S. military.
However, it is not just our ability to produce technological results, but results that keep the world in a stable position. This ideology that the world is just filled with happy people that want to just prance around is absolutely ridiculous. The truth is that countries/people have been waging wars that result in the slaughter of their enemy since the beginning of our time. Our military is the prime factor for our balance. If they weren't around, the other nations would have taken what they believe to be there's. We are a violent race of people.
The only true way of keeping peace, is through strength. Whether you like it or not, it's a truth we must all come to terms with.
P.S. I actually know one of the first members from one of the original black ops divisions. The man has been in over 100 different countries. Killed 1000's of people. Why you may ask? Because at the end of the day, it preserves the peace of us first world nations. But hell, it's easy to make childish judgments from behind your computer in your cozy little room.

He says that although a lot of money goes into good things, there's absolutely no reason to keep dumping money in; our technology is also very far advanced over other countries, if we stopped funding it, it wouldn't be obsolete for a fucking long ass time

Yes, because without America and our military other nations would destroy each other beyond recognition, which was obviously what happened before America became a nation as we arose from nothing and repopulated the world. Just stop. THe only point you had that was coherent and made sense was the innovation and techonological advancement bit.

The US Army has entire bases, just parking lots full of tanks that are of no use, thousands of tanks, and the still produce more, there is such a massive surplus, that the USA could easily arm every man woman and child with North America with a single gun, and still have a surplus.

Do you how almost impossible it is to start a war in the modern era, not to mention how idiotic it would be? Surveillance from advanced countries make it nearly impossible to get any sort of unexpected attack. Then did you consider how hard it would be to fight the fucking usa, especially since most world powers are our allies? Even with the proposed cuts we would still be far and away the most militarily advanced country. Do you even know what you're talking about?

If there were to be a war between the USA and say Russia, many countries would join Russia purely because of spite, many nations simply want to bring the USA to it's knees.

The US economy is going down the tubes, and even more so is the world's image of the USA.
Instead of the scholarly, strong, charismatic soldier, they now see the leader who is out of touch with the people, the thug who doesn't think of anything more than his surroundings and the soldiers that are looking for things that are not there.
If a war starts between the USA and any other major power, I predict the USA may win, but it will be because of their own military stockpile, not do to overwhelming support.
