England who we had to fight for our independence from? ya we make jokes but when it comes down to it we have had eachothers backs. Japan? well the content sais it enough. these countries we didnt even barge in and take control of everything. we didnt even win the war of 1812 at all. but hey, besties!

British troops burned down the white house. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning_of_Washington

The war of 1812 ended in a draw in the favor of the US. The war wasn't about taking territory. Did the US try to invade Canada due to the war? Yes, but it wasn't the cause. The US went to war with the Britain due to interference in American trade. They also took US sailors and forced them into the British navy.

Those nukes were just too much and everyone knows it.
US-Americans tried to sugarcoat it to themselves to justify it
and today its too late for excuses as most of the period's
witnesses are dead

Don't get me wrong, as German I'm REALLY happy that the Allied Nations won the war and I I think it was also good that they won against Japan but those nukes.....

Hitler probably would have done the same - that's the sad part - the allies fought for a just cause and they didn't resent to brutal punishment when Germany was defeated, instead they helped them rebuild everything - THIS is the message they've sent to the world and to future generations and it would have been flawless but the USA had to destroy it by nuking Japan - twice.

I'm sorry but you clearly know nothing about history. Firstly, let's look at the Japanese fighting style which was pretty much 'win or die'. The Japanese had no concept of surrender. To them, anyone who surrendered wasn't worthy of life. Because of this all fighting in the Pacific was no holds barred. So when it came time for the U.S. to finally attack the Japanese main land they were faced with two options. 1 storm the fortified beaches to an enemy with no concept of surrender and suffer a projected 1,000,000 allied casualties in the process of overunning japan. Or 2 Threaten the Japanese into submission. And how do you threaten a country that would rather die then surrender? With a huge weapon. Its not like the Americans didn't give the Japanese warning either because they did. About 1 month before the 1st bomb fell, the United Kingdom, China, and the U.S. called for unconditional surrender in the Posdam treaty with the threat of utter destruction of japans military forces. 1 month later the 1st bomb fell on Hiroshima and the allies waited 3 days with no word from Japan so fat man was dropped on Nagasaki promoting Japan's surrender. So basically, the allies saved approx 800,000 people choosing option 2. I just hit you with some knowledge

Missed the part where we were blockading them before they attacked us. Blockades are a military action.

Can we please stop getting involved uninvited in everyone's business, pissing them off, then wasting thousands of lives and millions of dollars for revenge when they inevitably lash back at us for meddling now? This ****** been going on for over 100 years now.

Cough...Genocide in China and other South East Asian countries as well as Imperialistic expansion into the Pacific islands. Pretty damn good reason to "blockade." However, it wasn't a blockade it was an embargo.

> went to pearl harbor in Hawaii for vacation
> saw memorial about the attack
> saw documentary at the memorial museum stating that the reason japan attacked was because of blockade
> could not of believe that american military would blame themselves for the attack on pearl harbor by provoking japan

i take my hat off to the american military as much as the rest of the world gives them **** for poking into everyones business I would rather them than some other country

It's interesting how Polandball's dialects have gotten all ****** up over time. Originally only Russia, Poland, Eastern European countries spoke in that "what is of goings on" way, Britain would be all "I say old chap", Japan would be stereotypical "Impossibru", etc. Now you have everyone of speakings like this except the English speaking countries. I even saw the UN talking like that a while ago.

I won't deny it jumbles my cassocks slightly.

i think the US dropping two nukes instead of one goes well with an analogy from Enders game where Ender knocks the enemy down (nuke one) and then proceeds to kick the **** out of him (nuke two) so that he wont ever even consider attacking him again
#153 - freedombirdman (03/20/2014) [-]
I have no strong feelings about this either way, and have no intentions of getting into a discussion regarding the ethics of using nukes. However, I am required to be here by virtue of my title.

I'm gonna drop some of my own knowledge in here based on what I saw in the comments:

Pearl harbor was indeed more than a stick to the face.
Yes, we put our Japanese citizens in interment camps.
Japan's internment camps were SIGNIFICANTLY worse than ours. Men frequently did not survive or had absolutely hellish ordeals on par with concentration camps on the European theater.
