Suck a dick faggot, that's not even funny.

Ohh, so you're one of the choir? It's not Israels fault that Hamas launches missiles at Tel-Aviv and other cities from densely populated areas, and therefore uses civilians as shields in their fight against Israelis. There has to be casualties when you do that and Israel retaliates, and they do have to retaliate even though it's in a residential neighborhood, if not Hamas would just continue launching from those areas on a even bigger scale. We can compare this to someone punching you in the face, and every time you're going to hit back you can't because they hold a baby in front of their face. When you strike back, you'll try not to cause any collateral damage, but it's impossible.

In 2012 over 2500 rockets were launched at Israeli cities from the Gaza strip.

You say "strike back" yet so most of the conflicts begin with violence by Israel
#80 to #75 - gerfox (12/10/2013) [-]
Well, this comes from the fact that Israel has the most military power.

Whenever there's been a time with increased Hamas activity, like last year when they fired so many rockets into Israel, the IDF usually strikes to stop the attacks and limit their military capabilities. Very few people die in those rocket attacks, but they are constant - and in some Israeli towns near the border as much as 50% of children suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

It's the same with some of the earlier wars Israel has fought in, they've gotten intel from Mossad for instance about the imminent threat against their nation - and have launched a pre-emptive attack, in reality making them the aggressor, although they aren't really.

That statistic you come up with there is pretty strange as well, and I'd like to see what they define as "strike first". It looks like they only calculate deaths, and in that case, this being a conflict where the killings are so spread out on the timeline many conflicts looks like it's the most powerful who starts it (also, the statistic doesn't take into count the higher amount of Palestinian casulaties). Look at Operation Defense Shield there for example, it was instigated after a period of 8 months apparently with what looks like increased Hamas violence - and when the Israelis retaliate it looks like they're blamed.

Also, 2012 was the single year with the most rockets fired at Israel ever from the Gaza strip, and therefore also the highest amount of Hamas attempted violence. This doesn't show in the statistic because it only focuses on deaths, and new Israeli technology prevents 90% of the rockets going through leading to a low amount of casualties.

Well that's what happens when you put an embargo on a people and make them desperate dumbass.
#29 to #28 - gerfox (12/10/2013) [-]
There hasn't been a consistent embargo since 1945, yet they have sent rockets, suicide bombers - and mortar shells into Israel since 1945.

And how does an embargo justify using humans as shields anyway? I imagine the Israelis instigated the embargo exactly because they were bombed, and to limit Hamas' influence. More rockets is hardly any reason to lift the embargo, is it? Hundreds of rockets are smuggled into Palestine a day via. tunnels stretching as far as Egypt. Imagine if they had used the money they use on rockets on food instead, and smuggled that through the tunnels instead. Wouldn't that have been nice?

Thanks for the uncalled for name calling btw.
User avatar #30 to #29 - timmywankenobi (12/10/2013) [-]
It doesn't justify their actions at all. but if you possess empathy you can see both sides have suffered but neither are willing to compromise an inch so in my opinion they should just kill each other in one massive battle and save us all another 200 years of senseless killing.
#31 to #30 - gerfox (12/10/2013) [-]
haha, sure - that's one way of looking at it. And I totally agree, both sides do things against each other that are horrible, and it looks like there's no end to the conflict. It's fueled by religion AND nationalism. Unfortunately there won't ever be a massive battle. Hamas is a terrorist organization, and prefer striking and spreading terror in the civilian population rather than actual warfare.

The media, at least where I come from, empathize solely with the Palestinians, and I'm kinda pissed off at all the anti-Israelis in my country even though the Palestinians are as bad as, or maybe even worse than them (considering Hamas targeting primarily civilians, while Israeli target the terrorist, but civilians tend to be caught in the crossfire).
#58 to #31 - challos **User deleted account** (12/10/2013) [-]
are you from britain because there is so many anti israelis here, "oh those poor palestinians" palestinians and arabs are ******* dispicable playing the victim when they have no innocence, palestine is run by a ******* terrorist organization and israel an extremely democratic, western state that teaches peace to its children, the opposite is taught to palestinian kids,
#79 to #58 - gerfox (12/10/2013) [-]
I'm Norwegian, and we're actually one of the few nations who've recognized Palestine as a sovereign state. We even give them humanitarian aid, making them the only non-developing nation in the world receiving humanitarian aid.

Neither sides are saints, but Israel is very similar to western nations. However, they're in a situation where they have to do what it takes to survive.
User avatar #32 to #31 - timmywankenobi (12/10/2013) [-]
I get that but I don't support either side because they are both wrong and when everyone is wrong nobody is right.
