r/polandball (McFlippyhoo)
As you can see in the comic, we can learn some anatomy of a Countryball, they apparently have spines.
Also I've heard this Simo Häyhä did not use a scope.. confirm? Well, Finland was referencing that guy.

I keep hearing about this war whenever Finland is mentioned in the comments, are you entertained?

sequel; you are correct, Hayha used neither a scope on his Mosin-Nagant Finnish replica, nor a spotter, which was custom for snipers of that day. Hayha just went into the woods to hunt some Ruskis all by himself.

With a Mosin Nagant(in his case,he was using the M28,an earlier carbine model that doesn't have provisions for an optics arrangement unless its custom done) you have to raise your head up and to the side to use the scope and you have to be careful not to accidentally brain yourself on it when you use it. As said before,it was so cold that optics would glaze over with frost. Plus, its not that hard to shoot a Mosin style rifle with iron sites.

He essentially killed around 5 people a day, during a time where there wasn't that much life. The man is a damned fine marksman and did his duty well.

I know,I own a 1940 Tula and it takes some getting used to the high rise scope.

Russians had so much casualties because their commanders often didn't had any experience, since Stalin cleared most of good man because they were dangerous.
Also red army didn't had any camouflage, they just had dark green coats on winter landscape.

He also put snow into his mouth to hide his breath, and the reason he didn't use a scope was also that it creates a glare when the sun shines onto it. He had over 500 confirmed kills, but an estimate of a total 750.. i guess you could say he was an expert in Gorilla warfare
#8 to #7 - gerfox (11/09/2013) [-]
Wasn't it 500 with the sniper rifle, and 250 with a submachine gun?
User avatar #11 to #8 - angelious (11/09/2013) [-]
also to **********

he also didnt use the scope because it was so cold back then that the lense would get frosty(or however you say it)

and rainbowisbestpone that is true indeed.russia didnt even expect a long war so they werent prepared for winter warfare.

He didn't use the scope because the reflection of light would give away his position.

the confirmed amount of kills is 500 with sniper rifle indeed.but they actually think it was higher than that

Yea, that's what was estimated
User avatar #43 to #7 - turtletroll ONLINE (11/10/2013) [-]
And also because you have to raise your head to aim down a scope.

Serious question here to anyone who's lived in Finland.
What's it like?

User avatar #67 to #16 - peikkonaama (11/10/2013) [-]
Well, it's awesome to have proper 4 seasons. In the summer, it's warm, so we can go to the beach etc. And in the winter, it's cold (sometimes too cold) for winter stuff, like skiing, skating etc.

The people are quiet, but friendly when you get to know them. Or when they are drunk, which is very common. It's just a part of finnish social behaviour.

It's not really that expensive, when compared to how much you can get paid. And it's also quite easy to get a high paying job, since education is free. Although, that is also a negative side, since the education is being paid for by taxes, which are very high. But that leads to great health care, public transport etc.

All in all, Finland is awesome.

User avatar #36 to #16 - Hreidmar (11/09/2013) [-]
It is really beautiful, and quite clean. Depends on which city you live in, of course, but the major ones like Helsinki and Turku are very nice. That being said, it can be a bit dull if a very active night-life is important to you. And it can be on the expensive side.

I enjoyed it quite a bit though. I'd go back if I found a job there.

''In Finland there's beauty.''

I speak Finnish as a 2nd language as well, but i think that's how it would directly translate.
User avatar #24 to #22 - wmpedo (11/09/2013) [-]
I speak it as my first and i do believe it translates more into "In Finland is beauty" but this is one of those times where translating is hard from finnish to english
User avatar #27 to #24 - andovaredoras (11/09/2013) [-]
'Suomessa on kauneutta.' might be better perhaps? ''There's beauty in Finland''

Yep, confused that with a stahlhelm. Looks kinda similar

He preferred to use iron sights rather than telescopic sights to present a smaller target for the enemy (a sniper must raise his head higher when using a telescopic sight), to increase accuracy (a telescopic sight's glass can fog up easily in cold weather), and to aid in concealment (sunlight glare in telescopic sight lenses can reveal a sniper's position).

User avatar #59 to #38 - gammarai (11/10/2013) [-]
Also, he would put snow in his mouth to prevent his breath, whatever breath would come out, from fogging up. Dis ***** is legit as **** .
User avatar #68 to #59 - peikkonaama (11/10/2013) [-]
And freeze the snow around him with water, so the blast from his rifle wouldn't send snow flying.

Comic characters made from the internet doesn't seem to be very creative in the 1st place.

Dolan, rage comics, spurdo

Maybe they are circles because people can easily make their own comics and increase the quantity of Polandball comics? Just a guess.
