It's good that it will be held in november to Jan. It's like 10000 degrees outside in the summer.

Shouldn't be there in the first place. A winter World Cup is gonna **** up club football schedules as well. Ridiculous.
User avatar #24 to #20 - specialone (01/12/2014) [-]
It shouldn't be in Qatar in the first place.
User avatar #21 to #1 - Milos (01/12/2014) [-]
USA already hosted it and it's never been held in the Middle east. I guess that was crucial.
User avatar #23 to #21 - specialone (01/12/2014) [-]
That excuse was ******** especially considering they overlooked Australia as host - Oceania's never held a World Cup.
User avatar #66 to #23 - Milos (01/12/2014) [-]
It wasn't overlooked, it was eliminated in the first round with only one vote. Wiki says stadiums are used for other sports and domestic league overlaps with World Cup.
Plus host has guaranteed place, who knows when will Qatar qualify again. Oceania qualifying group is very weak on the other hand and you always qualify.
User avatar #68 to #66 - specialone (01/12/2014) [-]
Yes, but they had agreed with the domestic codes to release the stadiums for the time period. Plus Australia now goes through Asian qualifying and how can you award the largest football occasion to a country that doesn't even have a domestic league? It's ludicrous.
User avatar #22 to #1 - huszti (01/12/2014) [-]
the US won't even get past group stage anyway

That's probably most people's reaction to the tournament in Qatar. It must have been money exchanged between FIFA and Qatar.
#64 to #6 - anon (01/12/2014) [-]
Not between fifa, but between fifa officials, they were bribed.
There's a voting system, and they just bought their votes.

if they move the world cup to winter they are ******* retarded.
if the sun and the heat is a problem then why not have the games played at NIGHT?
User avatar #17 to #8 - victorkoot (01/12/2014) [-]
Mayby it has also to do with broadcasting times in Europe or something like that. After all Europe is the elite continent of football.
#72 to #8 - hairibar (01/12/2014) [-]
Football matches are already played at night, mate
User avatar #10 to #8 - ayehateyawrflaws (01/12/2014) [-]
It gets really humid here, and more than the heat from the sun it's the humidity that makes going outside uncomfortable. And at night it becomes increasingly humid at times.

OH **** NO! ARE YOU ******** ME?!

Why the **** are we having the world cup in some terrorist filled country? The thing is probably going to be bombed to **** . Whoever picked the ******** which is the middle east to host ANYTHING is a complete ******* dumbass. We need to avoid that ******** corner of the world at all costs. Terrorists from OTHER countries are going to go there and blow **** up. This is ******* stupid...

The country isn't filled with terrorists.
It pays terrorists to destroy shia countries like Syria, to help Americans and Israel.

Hello I am from Qatar. I think Qatar should host the world cup. its as qualified as any other nation. and we didnt bribe our way to the fife. We were able to host it because we presented the best profile and they voted for it. If you guys are interested you can check the Qatar 2022 bid video. Qatar is a rising nation that started a revolutionary growing up after 1996. My country is developing really fast. A lot of cities are still under construction and lots of the buildings for the world cup in 2022. not to mention Qatar is going to host the Olympics on 2020. check the Qatar's bid video for more instructions on how things would be handled in the heat.

I have no problem with the country of Qatar, but having a sporting competition there is dumb. People can't play world class sport when they're sweating buckets just standing in the shade. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there severe restrictions on alcohol there? Football supporters are basically all alcoholics, so they'll probaly just sit in their local pub with a pint and watch the game on TV instead of going there and watching it with a glass of cranberry juice.
