I do like how they really show the independence **** about Scotland in this one. The rest of the UK is nothing but nice to them and is pissed off. It annoys me that some Scots feel this way. There up there muttering; "look at those ******* wankers... giving us our own government. Giving us the right to print our own money. Providing financial stability and an army to defend ourselves. Giving us more money than we give back to them, keeping our economy afloat with no threat of financial disaster. What the **** have they ever given us? THEY need us! Not the other way around!" I ******* love Scotland but the people who think that Scotland can survive on their own, unscathed, are wrong. OH! AND they want to keep the bank of England as their national bank. If you're going to **** off, **** off properly. The second you're gone you're ******* foreigners, would we let France use the Bank of England? Italy? The USA? Germany? No, its the Bank for England, Wales, N.Ireland and Scotland. If you leave the Union, its not your bank. Make your own sodding currency and become fully independant!

What about all those north sea oil fields that are in scottish waters? Most of that money ends up in westminster. An independent scotland would be quite wealthy because of this.
User avatar #137 to #52 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (01/02/2014) [-]
I'm not going to claim i know a lot about these oil fields and legal ownership, but i do know this; Scotland does not own the Oil Platforms that drill the oil and there fore cant go barging in when independance is announced. It would take time before any kind of migration between British ownership and Scottish ownership, that is if there ever is one. Do you think Britain would give up their only source of oil Income so easily? Nope. Its not just a case of "There in our waters, there ours!" Politics is a little more complicated than that.
Also, "quite waelthy"? Do you take into account paying for Health care, public services, schools, transport, maintenance, pensions and much more that cost BILLIONS of pounds a year to uphold? Money is pissed away fast when you have standards to maintain.

Scotland are nothing without us. This is just like if Wales suddenly went "right I'm packing my bags and leaving the Union to export nothing but sheep to keep our independent economy going".

All Scotland have is deep friend mars bars and Irn Bru to live on. They can't grow proper crops on 50% of their land either, let alone find places for cattle.

I just don't think the Scottish Nation party have thought this through enough and just to think there's under a year left till the vote :/
User avatar #32 to #29 - reginleif (01/01/2014) [-]
It still ought to worry England though, it shows weakness to just let the rest of their provinces drop off. Sure Scotland will suffer but the point is that the English will suffer from the lack of close allies, with the breakdown in the importance in the US-UK relations, and the EU trying to lure the UK into closer regulation, it doesn't look so good for you guys either.
User avatar #33 to #32 - regaesnhoj (01/01/2014) [-]
I think we're just using reverse psychology here .... There's no way Scotland's becoming independent; like I said they need us.

We can't exactly force them not to anyway.

Here's a couple of things that you may want to know on that front.

Ireland left the Union. They had the worst debt in the developed world in 2008. This is because their economy was so tied into that of Britain that they simply never adapted to the subtle but crucial sacrifices that come when you leave the union. England is the one that brings in most of the money because of the massive service sector. It was one of the most important financial countries in the world before the crash (I don't know about now but it's still pretty important to the world's economy). Ireland simply didn't have what it took to keep up the pace they were after and recover when they stumbled, siphoning massive amounts of money from the EU just to stay afloat.

Scotland is in a slightly better state than that but as was mentioned it still takes more money from England than it gives back, meaning leaving the UK would be worse off for the country as a whole. Let's not forget that Scotland has been growing it's economy for decades now (since Maggie Thatcher ****** it in the ass) and yet still doesn't have enough to stand on it's own without making a lot of sacrifices.

On top of that, independence would bring it directly into conflict with the UK in terms of everything it does. Rather than getting the shared load that the UK currently has where things are spread out across the kingdom Scotland would lose a lot of contracts, and their business would be put in direct opposition to that of everywhere else in the UK, meaning things would have to become cheaper or standards would have to increase both of which mean more work for less money.

Oh, and Scotland would probably not be a Kingdom either, it would become a republic. The Royal Family bring in approximately £7,000,000,000 every year through tourism, a sum far greater than the £160 million they take in terms of rent for their land. Scotland would lose out and Britain would get richer because of not having to share

It's a losing deal.

Irishfag here, I kinda take issue with the First bit you said....WE caused our own collapse, based on property bubble.

Though youre right about much else, the country was a total ******** for a good fifty years, until we joined the EU and gladly took all of France, Germany and probably the UKs money to build nice motorways.
User avatar #135 to #79 - snowshark (01/02/2014) [-]
I'd agree that a lot of the prosperity Ireland faced famed from the borrowing from other countries in the EU but such was caused by the inability to support the economy on their own. However I expect Ireland to be able to eventually be a prosperous country. As much as when they were un the UK... un... as much as they WOULD have been if Ireland were still in the UK now that it is actually taking care of it's constituents? I don't know, we'll have to see.

Still, at least you're not Scotland where a lot of the land mass is unsuitable for farming.

Goddammit, I must say that I'm butthurt.
I'm a Romanian and I've always had a high sense of morality, I always believed that all people should be treated equally no matter their ethnicity, religion or race. But after living all my life surrounded by gypsies I must say I've had it, I hate them more then anything, they are a plague.
But what really bothers me is that everyone calls us Romanians gypsies because of it and they actually believe that we're all like that. They migrated from ******* Asia, they're Indians. When they came here we gave them rights and welcomed them on our land and now we get **** for everything they do. I went to Spain a few years ago and when I told people that I'm Romanian their facial expression changed immediately, I could see the hate in their eyes, some even called me a gypsy. I made me sad and I couldn't believe it. This is what we get for treating people equally.
But that's ok, cause the way things are going, the gypsies are starting to head to western countries and we will get rid of them. And after a few years they will settle in your countries and do the same nasty things they did in our country and then I'm gonna come to your country and call all of you gypsies because you have gypsies in your country. Let's see how you like it.
User avatar #107 to #103 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (01/01/2014) [-]
"When they came here we gave them rights and welcomed them on our land and now we get **** for everything they do"

Are those your terms for "we put a collar on their neck and made them our slaves"?

Because, you know, that's what gypsies were up to late 1700s
User avatar #110 to #107 - mereu (01/01/2014) [-]
Slavery was common at that time, people were taken slaves regardless of race.
