Not fair! The US enjoys our hockey matches with Canada!

We just don't like the losing part.

It's still ok. Their best players all want to play for American teams anyway. Let them get together once every 4 years. They still turn traitor for 3.

If you're interested, every single episode is on here to stream for free. I use the site a lot and have never had any trouble. (viruses, etc.) allmyvideos, vodlocker, putlocker/sockshare, and gorillavid are usually the links I use. (They are a bit faster with less buffering than some of the others.)

Went to Canada once when I was about 8 or 9. Border patrol decided our car looked suspicious and searched our car for about an hour and a half. They found a few cartons of cigarettes (grandma and grandpa practically ate cigarettes) and claimed we were trying to bring them in to sell to Canadians since their tobacco tariffs are apparently quite high. They then spent another 30 minutes trying to get us to confess that we were smuggling in said tobacco to sell and threatened legal action. Eventually they let us go, but it was still a pain in the ass for my parents and grandparents. I however used this opportunity to demolish Lt. Surge with my newly acquired Diglet.

Yes, when saying America you could reffer to the landmass (or continent what ever you regard as right). And Canada is located on that landmass therefore his statement isn't wrong.

Because French people. I have been to Montreal exactly three times, and Quebec City once. Every time I so much as went into a store and used an English greeting (well, some stores in Montreal. lots of anglos there, so it was less of a problem) I would get a dirty look. I don't speak any french whatsoever due to having ****** french teachers all through school, but my dad does and he would often tell me we were being insulted behind our backs.

People from Quebec really come off as arrogant cockbags.I'm sure its not everyone there, but there is a very, very vocal amount.

Being from Quebec. I was often told that I had to speak French (I'm bilingual with a really weird accent). However, I was told in BC that I wasn't a real Canadian for being from Quebec; that ******* hurt, because I worked my ass off to write and speak English fluently. Although, I'm aware that there are assholes and friendly people everywhere and you just need to place yourself around the right people; it's still hard to feel unwelcome anywhere you go in your own country, whether you're in your hometown or visiting another province. I love my country and my province, but it's hard to keep that going at times when you're constantly being frowned upon for speaking both official languages of the country.

TL;DR there are assholes and good people in Quebec and in English speaking provinces, but **** you if you're bilingual.
User avatar #200 to #199 - enkmaster (03/03/2014) [-]
I agree, but I feel some of the stigma comes from the whole "Quebec tried to be it's own country" thing. A lot of people feel that Quebec doesnt WANT to be Canadian, and thus get angry about it.
User avatar #142 to #41 - subcelestial ONLINE (03/03/2014) [-]
As a bilingual, I totally understand. I used to go to a French high school, and we could actually get in trouble for talking in English. And not like in French class or anything. If we were caught talking in English in the cafeteria or the corridor and such, we could risk getting a detention.

I know there's tension between the francophones and the anglophones, but this is just ridiculous

Canadians have given Quebec a quarter of a trillion dollars in equalization payments since 1957. Over that span of more than 50 years, Quebec has always been the biggest beneficiary, and has never been a net contributor to equalization.

Quebec receives ******** funding from the rest of Canada so you lazy ***** can get next to free schooling and funding for your ****** programs while the rest of us work our asses off to pay for them.
#62 to #57 - monstar (03/02/2014) [-]
That is not exactly accurate. If you look for Federal Support to Provinces and Territories on the Department of Finance's website, you'll see that the province of Ontario actually received more federal support (19.8 billion) than Québec (17.9 billion) in 2013. Now, the reason why we have cheaper education, have 7$-a-day daycare among other social programs, etc. is because we chose to have citizens pay more taxes to fund such programs. In choosing this more European approach to social issues we obviously diverge from the rest of Canada, which tends to lean a little more to the right. Knowing this, it's easy to understand the tensions and divisions that might arise.

I just came back from an exchange in France and my exchange had been to canada before on exchange as well, even he disliked people from Quebec because they thought that they were rude and obnoxious, also he said that if in french they have a word derived from an english word (eg. technology-->technologie) they would make up a new word that sounds totally the same so that Quebec wouldnt be like an english region and more french, even though the word isnt even in the french language

I just want to say that it is really hard to love Canada as a Quebecker. And it also hard to love Quebec if you're Canadian.

I wish we could make peace or finally separate and then make peace.

Because French is slowly dying, and they know it. I can't really blame them for trying to hold onto their heritage and language, but they're doing it the wrong way. they should be trying to make people WANT to learn French, not trying to charge shopowners for not having their store\s Facebook pages in both languages.
