Have you ever been so angry you became colored.

Well, technically Red hasn't really "lost" to Gold.

The game-Red in Gold and Silver /did/, if you were good enough, but in the actual story that Nintendo uses Red and Gold just train on that mountain together.

Same with Black/White 2 where you could fight Red in the tournament; the actual battle could vary story-wise but they couldn't really program an "unbeatable" trainer, which is why Red doesn't have level 100s like he would if the game followed that.

Also Red managed to beat the Elite four, and Emerald, story-wise...

But I have to kind of disagree; I don't really think Ash's 30+ badges is that impressive. He would be a /lot/ better if he wasn't de-aged every season for children, but 30+ badges is probably pretty common to be honest. We just don't get to watch those kids go on their adventure.

Ash is kind stupid. I mean for ***** sake he gave up his best Pokemon at the time (charzard) since he wanted to see it frolic and he refuses to evolve one of the strongest picachu in the Pokemon universe. He may be a good person but he is a incompetent trainer.

I'm sure Sean Connery likes Ash too.

That's so incredibly redundant that I cannot believe you tried. Ketchum is already "Catch them".

comparing all reds shortcomings in three different canonical incarnations to the accomplishments of his anime incarnation isnt really fair

red(game)- gave up being the champion to defeat an offshoot of team rocket in the sevii islands, and later lost to gold (real name ethan)
red(adventures manga)- lost to emerald
red(pocket monsters manga)- lost to the elite 4

red from the games is the original champion from pallet town
ash provides extra revenue
the orange league was filler

Honestly, I think Ash is a dumbass a lot of the time, but not for releasing strong Pokemon, not for not capturing rare/legendary Pokemon, not for refusing to evolve Pokemon if they do not wish If I lived in a world were Pokemon were real, I would probably do the same. He sees them as friends, not possessions and gives them choice. Ash is not better than Red, he is different in the ways that made him appeal to younger viewers.

"If they fought it could go either way."

Lost me there. Pretty sure a Pikachu, an unevolved nextgen starter, and whatever else ragtag group of Pokemon Ash brings to the table will lose horrifically to Red's team of absolutely horrific monsters.

It's a fight between somebody who keeps all their Pokemon in use and evolves them at every presented opportunity versus someone who switches teams more often than cutting edge fashion statements, and only evolves a Pokemon once in a blue moon for dramatic effect.

Ash has more badges and has done things Red hasn't. But Ash also goes through Pokemon like Kleenex. 1v1, Ash would get utterly wrecked.

And the saving the world thing is an unfair comparison. Ash saves the world approximately once every time he's in a movie. How many movies has Red starred in? He hasn't saved the world (that we're aware of) because we haven't seen any movies made about him.

Really, this whole content would have been better if the person who originally did this just stopped at panel 2 instead of strawmanning it out and weakening their argument by being wrong or illogical about some of their points.

They're made for different audiences, end of discussion. Stop trying to make one side look bad or yourself better. That's where you shove your foot in your mouth.

Um, "Caught Mewtwo using a masterball"

Doesn't that depend on what the player does? I never used my masterball on him

Although I wholeheartedly agree I must point out that Ash never saved the world, per se.
The pokemon movies, where ash saves the world, are not part of the anime "canon" and serve about as much purpose to the development of ash' character and the anime's story line as the sing along's at the end of episodes.

I think the first movie was canon. They just never talk about it because Mewtwo wiped their memories at the end. But it definitely includes scenes that were in the anime. Specifically, the scenes where Mewtwo is being trained by Giovanni. Gary had to fight him in the anime and both the episode and the movie showed quick glimpses of Mewtwo owning Gary.

fun fact:
Ash Ketchum pronounced in norwegian sounds oddly familiar to Æsj Ketchup,
(Æsj= childish word for expressing disgust)

long story long my friends and I used to joke about how bad ketchup.
