It really tugged my nuts that Ash could do it in the show, but we can't do it in the games. Fuck you Ash, your name is short for Ashley and Prof. Oak has threesomes with your mom and Officer Jenny.
"ok, next question. You there, boy with t he cap."

But a higher catch rate means people will use less of them. Bad business model you've got there.

It really makes no sense that we can't catch them once they're knocked out. I have yet to hear a plausible theory as to why besides the obvious it would make it too easy. Which is a shitty reason.
Ever since I was a kid I always imagined that when a wild pokemon "fainted" it died, my own would obviously be recalled to their pokeballs before substantial damage could be done so mine would only pass out. I had a twisted childhood...

MFW i accidentally kill a legendary.
And it is mentioned in an episode that it is ILLEGAL to catch a fainted pokemon because once you release them, they run away.

It was a plot device that the creators decided they didn't like last minute. I believe Celebi was supposed to be in it, and they decided that the storyline overall didn't make much sense (for pokemon, that's saying a lot.) and they just had Ash drop it off and hoped the audience would forget about it (which we obviously haven't)
