i imagine making fully animated models for over 700 creatures AND all the attacks would take an insane amount of time and funding.
User avatar #361 to #2 - iamaniceperson (12/05/2013) [-]
I think they would make only one Gen, makeing slot less work.
#332 to #2 - anonymous (07/21/2013) [-]
That's a stupid excuse to not make a video game. The people who make Pokemon games are financially stable enough to make a game like this. With enough time something like this should very much be created.
User avatar #304 to #2 - majormoron (07/20/2013) [-]
Skyrim has numerous models. I don't know about 700, but its a lot. And the world is defiantly just as big as Kanto if not bigger. and they could just remake the old games to start with, so they would only need 150-151 models at first
User avatar #348 to #304 - defiantly (07/23/2013) [-]
You probably meant to use "definitely".
User avatar #354 to #348 - majormoron (07/24/2013) [-]
That makes the third time this has happened. Did you make this account for the soul purpose of correcting these mistakes?
User avatar #355 to #354 - lip ONLINE (07/24/2013) [-]
yes.
#274 to #2 - nightstar ONLINE (07/20/2013) [-]
What if it was done similar to how Spore was written?
User avatar #277 to #274 - dabronydude (07/20/2013) [-]
that would make it much easier to put together but the quality of the animations might be lacking, good idea though.
User avatar #267 to #2 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (07/20/2013) [-]
...They're already making over 700 animated models and all the attacks in X & Y
Why has no one said this?

They made Pokemon Colisseum. This would just be a prettier, much larger version.

It would also make insane amounts of money and people happy.
#244 to #2 - anonymous (07/20/2013) [-]
actaully you think so but know if you break down basic strucutre of many creatue of pokemnon many have simlair or same shape in body skeltont wise so while it owld take osme time not as much as people would think it does maybe get each one own aniamtion going sure form starting of pint then no but polishing thme yes two diffrent things

maybe...
wow uses a lot of reskinned and slightly edited models but even then,
wow is over 10 years of expansions and updates so not a fair comparison for a stand alone game haha
User avatar #311 to #258 - walkerjam (07/20/2013) [-]
I disagreed when you said over 10 years, but then I realized that WoW was released in 2004.
That's 9 years.

bethesda could make a wow out of it. like 8 expansions one per two years
#75 to #2 - anonymous (07/20/2013) [-]
Start with 151, then release expansions until you reach the current amount.
Actual expansions. Not just tiny DLC thingies.
User avatar #163 to #75 - dabronydude (07/20/2013) [-]
that is a good idea...
it could work since people are willing to pay for a whole new pokemon game every year i am sure they would pay less for an upgrade.
User avatar #72 to #2 - ritafoxyy ONLINE (07/20/2013) [-]
They wouldn't need to do over 700, just the 151 real pokemon.

What I'd really like is a dark turtle and a steel turtle though.
User avatar #190 to #185 - daentraya (07/20/2013) [-]

User avatar #192 to #190 - kandazz (07/20/2013) [-]

User avatar #197 to #196 - kandazz (07/20/2013) [-]
Probably dark/fighting. Will probably end up like Torcoal with a single evolution.
User avatar #198 to #197 - daentraya (07/20/2013) [-]

User avatar #199 to #198 - kandazz (07/20/2013) [-]
Usually found near a similar ninja rat pokemon. Females of this pokemon would be rare. Also hard to find itself but almost every siting would be in the sewers of some cities.
User avatar #203 to #199 - daentraya (07/20/2013) [-]
This sounds like it belongs in pokemon. And yeah, fighting themed pokemon are often found it pairs. So the turtles just swim in the sewer water or something? Delicious ****** water
#125 to #121 - mutzaki (07/20/2013) [-]
That little guy is called Tirtouga.
Its evolution, Carracosta, is one of the coolest designs, in my opinion.

genwunner
gen one-er
Generation one(er)
Name for people who have permanent nostalgia goggles and won't give newer generations a chance, spewing out biased critique that usually makes no sense. Can refer to people who accept up to generation 3, in most cases.

jesus genwunner extends to season 3? how many ******* generations are there

That's more of my opinion, really, since it's generally the same type of people.
But there are right now five generations of Pokémon, and will be six in October.
User avatar #70 to #2 - edwardlol (07/20/2013) [-]
Well, they managed to do it in Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Colosseum.
There were less Pokemon back then, yes, but animating the models and attacks doesn't seem to be that much of a problem.
#69 to #2 - mattymc (07/20/2013) [-]
skyrim, far cry, and fallout have done it
#173 to #69 - anonymous (07/20/2013) [-]
Just curious but have you ever looked at Fallout/Skyrim basically any bethesda game's construction kit (or geck for fallout)? Its pretty amazing just how little is actually there and how much they can do with it. Never heard of far cry, don't know who made it so I can't really say anything about it but if its by bethesda I'd assume it falls under the same as fallout/etc.

you have no idea what your talking about, do you?
User avatar #28 to #27 - dabronydude (07/20/2013) [-]
can you tell?
i do know that over 700 unique animated models doing over a hundred animations each on top of movement animations must take some work at least heh
User avatar #29 to #28 - warioteam (07/20/2013) [-]
No **** , but do you think they have only one guy to do it?
User avatar #30 to #29 - dabronydude (07/20/2013) [-]
well i know they have a lot of money but really,
you know mass effect? think how many unique moving models that game uses, the main characters that move are all human based shapes and from watching the how they made it dvd they said that adding even 1 more non human shaped model with animations would take so much time and money it was not worth it...

now imagine doing that for over 700....
User avatar #31 to #30 - warioteam (07/20/2013) [-]
Just look at the answers around you.
#22 to #2 - anonymous (07/20/2013) [-]
Assuming Nintendo made this game, 700 models are no big deal. Models aren't the problem in games, it's the amount of polygons per creature, and the space their textures take up. Assuming quality of pokemon similar to the one in the picture there, even a mobile game could handle a simple battle simulation of that quality, and a full console based AAA game title could easily incorporate the entire pokemon universe.
#278 to #22 - wagastragas ONLINE (07/20/2013) [-]
nope, each model requires work, for animation, modeling plus alot of stuff, and that image over there are prerendered making something of that quality would take a ton of requirements and prob the consoles wouldnt even run it
#337 to #278 - anonymous (07/21/2013) [-]
Render each race/class/magic ability/shout/facial feature of skyrim.... It wouldn't be that difficult and they're fully capable of doing it. You're acting like if they were to do it they'd release it in a year -_-.
User avatar #36 to #22 - mcmanybucks (07/20/2013) [-]
Now, just tryina expand my limited knowledge of these things, but wouldnt a world like skyrim work fine for just kanto? with all creatures changed out with pokemon?
#177 to #36 - meinneger (07/20/2013) [-]
Yeah, Skyrim is tiny. Takes up about a quarter meg of ram cache in comparison to minecraft which takes up a full meg.
#156 to #36 - ventriloquist (07/20/2013) [-]
skyrim in fact has very little 3d models. The game itself is surprisingly small. Also they have way less than 700 creatures, but I still think a game like this would be reasonable in todays times.
User avatar #157 to #156 - mcmanybucks (07/20/2013) [-]
Right..i think nintendo is just stickin to the "If it aint broke dont fix it"
#160 to #157 - ventriloquist (07/20/2013) [-]
Right, it would change the feel and playstyle of pokemon completely

but it would be all worth it in the end
User avatar #8 to #7 - dabronydude (07/20/2013) [-]
very worth it,
the problem is making it...
i can not even think of a single game that has over 700 unique models in it to date...
User avatar #9 to #8 - upyourarsinal (07/20/2013) [-]
well borderlands 2 has like over 2 million guns in it. they're getting there.
User avatar #10 to #9 - dabronydude (07/20/2013) [-]
that does not count,
the guns are generated using code and so they did not program each gun, probably a base gun model for each type like 2 snipers etc....
User avatar #11 to #10 - upyourarsinal (07/20/2013) [-]
what im saying is its a process.
first codes
then models
User avatar #12 to #11 - dabronydude (07/20/2013) [-]
i see what you mean but for each pokemon to be programmed they would need very little coding, just animations, model, texture and all the different attacks...
that would still take a really really long time to do well and after that you have to make the whole game world, the trainers, the cities...

this game would cost incredible amounts to make.
User avatar #13 to #12 - upyourarsinal (07/20/2013) [-]
yes it would. baby steps i guess
User avatar #14 to #13 - dabronydude (07/20/2013) [-]
indeed.
User avatar #17 to #14 - applesaucers (07/20/2013) [-]
It's completely possible Ni No Kuni plays similar to what you could expect this to play like and it has somewhere around 250 unique monsters with animations and all that jazz.... this really wouldn't be as hard for nintentdo to make as you think it would be... not to mention its nintendo they have more than enough money to throw at it
