A True Pokemon fan and lover loves all 5 generations equally with little hate towards them. To prove this, i'm going to state 1 of the most positive and negative things towards each generation:

Generation 1:
Pro: Self explanatory... ************* release of the damn game with biggest suprises overall throughout gameplay
Con: Glitchy as **** with horrible ass sprites

Generation 2:
Pro: New Pokemon with special pokeballs and by far the biggest storymode
Con: Sprites are still kinda ****** up and by far had some of the toughest gyms

Generation 3:
Pro: Unique routes featuring weather plus some of the best pokemon designs and incredibly solid plotline...plus your father is a ******* gym leader.
Con: Alot of surf routes which is kinda *meh* and no backtracking into other regions

Generation 4:
Pro: A solid plotline that literally involves you saving the universe and the MUCH needed Special Attack/Physical Attack separation
Con: Some not so clever pokemon designs(Bidoof) and a relatively difficult elite 4 (according to everytime i've beaten the game)

Generation 5:
Pro: A long journey with unique camera angles, CHOOSABLE elite 4 order, and solidly designed pokemon
Con: You can't visit the whole region prior to elite 4 and the trainers that rebattle you can get quite annoying on occasion as well as a million ******* legendaries basically making a legendary pokemon...not so special anymore
User avatar #141 to #101 - Kennyalways (05/17/2013) [-]
Tough gyms and elite 4 are a con? i find that the challenge makes it more worthwhile and a better experience overall. Then again i love Gen 2 so i might just be fanboying especially on the Red addition for an even greater challenge

How are tough gyms a con?
#248 to #170 - xtremedeath (05/19/2013) [-]
First Whitney and her bitch of a miltank then Jasmine and her cunt of a steelix (sometimes) and finally Claire and her ******* dragons. now...tell me again how the 2nd gen gyms aren't tough???

I f***ing love you. I love all the Pokémon Generations (With Gen3 being my favourite) and really don't get why so many people hate some of the newer ones
User avatar #144 to #114 - taintedangel (05/17/2013) [-]
the ones that hate on anything after gen one, and maybe gen 2 are just nostalgiafags.
User avatar #172 to #144 - Rockaman (05/17/2013) [-]
Dunno, I spent my childhood on gen 1 and 2 but was really hyped up for gen 3 and was massively disappointed at the majority of the new pokemon, mainly due to the fact that they tried to make almost all of them fairly cute or an animal with a retardation with far less badass looking characters. Since then I've just not liked the art style and I think they've kind of run out of ideas making weaker and weaker looks for the pokemon.

I have recently played through gen 4 and 5, and even though the storylines are pretty damn good, I ended up predominantly using gen 1 and 2 pokemon as I got sick of the poor design of the later ones.

Pros:
Gen I: Ignited the franchise.
Gen II: Breeding, and Introduced Dark and Steel types to balance out the overpowered Psychic and Ghost types.
Gen III: Abilities.
Gen IV: Physical/Special Split
Gen V: Dream World

Cons
Gen I: Glitches and Poor Sprites
Gen II: Barely extended upon Dragon and Ghost type Pokemon.
Gen III: Plethora of water routes.
Gen IV: Way too many legendaries.
Gen V: "Back to Our Roots' execution; tried too hard to parallel Gen I with certain Pokemon evolutionary lines; overt simplicity.

tl;dr: All Gens have good and bad parts. Deal with it.

People complain about legendarys but I enjoy having a lot to do and seeing each legendaries world (I admit there is a limit but I don't think D/P had too many although they couldve gotten rid(or improved upon) of azelf, uxie and mesprit because they're essentially the same pokemon with different stats)

User avatar #30 to #13 - mutzaki (05/16/2013) [-]
To be fair, it's still the second least common type. I definitely agree too many legendaries are Dragon-type, but if they kept the type too exclusive, there'd be very little diversity, and very few Dragon-type moves.

My favorite type is Steel, i'd really like the rumors about Chespin's evo's being Grass/Steel to be true because Grass starters are my favourite, then Water then Fire.
I'd love to see more Steel types too
User avatar #137 to #135 - mutzaki (05/17/2013) [-]
I agree that is a cool typing. Especially if it gains steel spikes all over its back, due to it being a hedgehog.
But to be honest, I believe more in either Grass/Ground or Grass/Fighting. Possibly even pure Grass.

I found in the first two Gens the pokemon i didnt like made it better cos you cant get the good without the bad. And having some you didnt like made me like the ones i did like more.

But with all the other gens now its just like its gone from 15% I dislike but they had character and it made it good to 40% I dislike and its just been swarmed with all these pointless pokemon. Yeah there were some stupid pokemon in Gen 1. But it was SOME pokemon that looked stupid. And it was kinda unique and cool that they were stupid, but now its like 30% the pokemon look stupid and now they just look stupid as theres too many of them to be quirky etc.

User avatar #196 to #90 - rainbowrush ONLINE (05/17/2013) [-]
The difference is that there aren't any badly designed Pokemon in gen 1, and the numbe of new Pokemon you don't like is way higher than that of old ones. Gen 4 and 5 don't have the Pokemon feel at all, more Digimon in design than anything. Now you have to struggle to find who you like, rather than struggle to find who you dislike.

Gen 6 looks a lot better, tho.
