So a while back I picked up Pokemon White, having only previously played Blue I was ignorant of the whole Shiny concept, I was familiar, just not fully aware of the magnitude of what happened to me May 27 2011.
So I was struggling my way through Victory road, filling up my pokedex along the way when I came accross a cool looking ant, so I caught it, Durant, neat, go to take a step, another encounter, another Durant, go to kill it, a fire attack leaves it with a sliver of health, why not? (Thanks to sturdy I had already caught a half a dozen Boldore) Threw a dusk ball, caught it, moved on, next room another Durant pops up, Whoa! This one looks different, silver with red eyes, nearly gave myself an ulcer carefully capturing it. Shortly after catching this silver one with red eyes I come accross and capture two more before I get curious.
Once free of Victory Road, after having met countless more silver with red eyes, I consult my computer, discovering the first two I had met, the second caught on a whim, were shiny, at the time this did not seem extraordinary, so I continued on and quickly forgot about the ants thanks to being repeatedly molested by uber powered NPC pokemon.
I have just recently picked back up the DS and started playing again, research into breeding led me to the realization that a shiny in the wild is a one in eight thousand one hundred and ninety-two chance.
I felt a wave of durr wash over me as I realized not including the fact that they were the same pokemon/level there is a 1/67108864 chance of me catching two shiny pokemon in two consecutive encounters.
