Where are you getting your info? Jay Garrick was introduced in Flash #1 in the 1940's. Barry came way later as a reboot to the Flash name.

If you think of them as the rival, then they're an awful rival. Last time you fight them is outside the huge mall and they don't even have a fully evolved starter...

Honestly, I don't think I'd say Gen 3 RBE has a rival character, all the recurring fights are all friendly and presented in good fun. I'd say the only rival character for that game was the girl from the post game of ORAS...

Actually I think the opposite gender is there merely for canons sake, you have to fight Wally numerous times and he even blocks your way to the Pokemon League, you also battle Barry several times, but even compared to Wally he is indeed a (cute) prissy little bitch.

i really wished pokemon games introduced the ability to lose to your rivals in which if you lose to your rivals it'll take you back to the pokemon center like it does. but if you go back to that spot you dont face them again. thats it. i think that would be waaaaay cooler and would actually make them feel like a rival. it would also make it waaaay cooler when you beat them at the end of the games to be the very best.
