Pokemon MMO for Mobile

It's called Pokemon Go!, and is set to release for mobile sometime in 2016. Looks pretty fun. Get ready to wander the earth searching for that shiny Charmander. Pretty soon, Nintendo will have enough of our money to create genetically engineered real Pokemon for us. Before you start saying "Oh, this is just another one of those trailers that is nothing like the actual game", just let us enjoy the hype for a bit. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go buy a hat.

Imagine if they paired this with Google Glass so you actually saw that

Have fun getting mugged when you go down a dark alleyway for a pikachu: the game

also i've read they aren't putting AR in it, it's just a map game
it said in the conference that they were collaborating with Niantic for this, who make the game Ingress for android

I've played it and it's nothing more than a skin for google maps with a points system attached to it

I was excited for this. Thanks. Where have you played it? It was just announced.

reread
I've played Ingress
nintendo are collaborating with the creators of it
User avatar #6 to #4 - jamesten (09/10/2015) [-]
just because they made ingress doesn't mean this will suck
User avatar #7 to #6 - kothaex ONLINE (09/10/2015) [-]
didn't say that
ingress doesn't suck
it's just a pokemon take on ingress isn't going to be anything like that trailer, and it was probably super misleading

remember, no-one has confirmed AR yet
it's probably not happening

an article title isn't confirmation

I don't appreciate being referred to as a baby, but I can see the humor in this situation. Have a thumb.

If it just starts with first gen then adds pokemon every few years, it will actually be like the show

they could've done this with the 3DS,it has cameras and wireless connectivity....wonder why they they didnt?.......oh yeah, they wanna flood the thing with micortransactions like all mobile games.

1) It's a mobile game. Even pokemon isn't against the sins of mobile gaming. Look at pokemon shuffle. Microtransactions abound. How much do you think they're gonna charge for those pokeballs? You really think you'll be able to catch a level 36 Charizard with one pokeball right there and then like they did?

2) Does anyone really think it'll be like the trailer there? I'm pretty sure that's how they imagined the streetpass would work on 3DS when in reality it was more a passive thing noone generally cared for in the scheme of things.

3) It requires physical engagement from the player. Something a chunk of gamers are averse to. One of the major appeals of gaming is the ability to experience what they have to offer from relatively comfortable environments.

4) A Pokemon MMO would be horrible, given how well balanced the Pokemon meta is for their ACTUAL game.

To be honest, I've always been extremely skeptic of games after **** like Brink or Watchdogs, all my friends are hyped even though they don't play the game properly, I breed **** with perfect IV's etc I'd like to say I know the game somewhat. Pokemon GO in my opinion has a 95% chance of being a money grab and a 90% chance of being a complete failure, the trailer was honestly quite unappealing if you ask me, not only do the pokemon look ******* ugly in 3d like that, having ******* wild rare third evolutions like charizard is just ******* stupid. The thing that irked me the most was that mewtwo fighting event, where a million people fight this stupid **** and then catch him if they killed him, that's not pokemon that's just trash, if they wanted to make this game honestly good, they'd limit legendary encounters to honestly special places, I'm talking find Deoxys at stonehenge or some **** , and then it's not announced it's a ******* secret, so the first person to travel there, gets it and that's that, they can parade they're the trainer of that legendary.

TLDR Don't get excited for a concept which will probably not work.

lemme guest......9.99 for 5 pokeballs? 14.99 for 10? 19.99 for more then 3 slots in your pokemon team? premium legendaries/pokeballs? 24.99 for more storage space?

believe in the hype all you want but we all know what big corporations think about mobile gaming. eg:final fantasy:all the bravest
