MFW this was my first time seeing either of these Pokemon.

Not hating on the new generations, just saying I'm old.

It's a poisonous mushroom that disguises itself as an item so humans will come look at it, only to get paralysed and killed, then used as living mulch.
That's ******* brutal. Voltorb never did that **** .

The fact that the pokemon is shaped after a man made thing is what aggravates me. I was also annoyed with the electric wall outlet pokemon but thought it was more of a joke to be played off as coincident. The newest pokemon have a LOT shaped after human objects. I mean they have ICECREAM!

Grimer is made out toxic sludge, a man-made thing.
the fact that pokemon look like or come to life out of man-made things just show that humans have been long enough for animal life to evolve to suit them.
in the case of foongus and amoonguss, maybe the pokemon existed already and just changed coloration to pursue a different, most substantial, prey.
User avatar #187 to #68 - siridontcare (05/09/2013) [-]
our generaton had SOME of these. but the newer generation has way to many. and I find that to be incredibly unlikely. also the toxic sludge I believe was a man made monster like ghost pokemon are really dead pokemon and not evolution at all.
#189 to #187 - spacestalin (05/09/2013) [-]
nope, Grimer was naturally occurring
"Sludge that was transformed when exposed to X-rays from the moon. Loves sludge, industrial waste and other refuse." (this is from Pokemon Stadium, btw, so it's not recent)
and let's analyze this logically, shall we?
in generation I you have: voltorb and electrode, porygon and mewtwo as manmade pokemon. While in gen V you have: trubbish, garbodor, golett and golurk.
the same number of manmade pokemon.
now, if we're talking about pokemon related to humans, then you enter in a big mess. But, let's say pokemon related to humans are those directly involved in human activities (which would exclude foongus and amoonguss, for being wild pokemon)
in gen I you have: Machop, Machoke, Machamp, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Mr. Mime and Mewtwo.
in gen V you have: Yamask, Timburr, Gurdurr, Conkeldurr, Troh, Sawk, Genesect, Golett and Golurk.
that's only two more pokemon. Two more is in no measure "way to many".
finally, in pokemon being shaped after human objects.
In generation I you have:
Magnemite, Magneton, Grimer, Muk, Voltorb and Electrode.
while in gen V you have:
Sigilyph, Yamask, Cofagrigus, Trubbish, Garbodor, Vanillite, Vanillish, Vanilluxe, Foongus, Amoonguss, Kling, Klang, Klinklang, Litwick, Lampent and Chandelure.
it's true, in this particular case many more pokemon were presented. However, that could be explained in the change of habitat.
the region of Unova has 12 cities and only 5 towns, plus 7 natural environments. By comparison, Hoenn had 7 cities and 2 towns, plus 9 natural environments.
Unova has almost twice as many cities, is much more heavily industrialized and urbanized, and as such, it makes sense more of the animals have adapted to live in urban environments.
it's simple adaptation.

>holy ************ , what a wall of text came out of this

its 12 o clock so i dont have time to research my response. My only question for this moment is semi-related.... where the **** do all these "new" pokemon come from? are metours continuallys slamming into the ground?
#191 to #190 - spacestalin (05/09/2013) [-]
they always existed?
new species are being discovered all the time
plus, species native to just one or two areas of the world aren't uncommon
however, that's not really a question of the current generations. That's something that we should've asked since generation II
IMO, in the end this is just a game, and like with every other work of fiction a little suspension of disbelief is required
User avatar #192 to #191 - siridontcare (05/09/2013) [-]
I asked this when I first noticed new pokemon. and the just discovered is used in the series if I am not wrong but that doesnt explain how the new pokemon have habitats that were already explored area.
User avatar #196 to #192 - chandelure (05/09/2013) [-]
Well the Pokémon games take place one after the other - at least Gold and Silver were direct sequels to Red and Blue, and since with each generation the technology in-game has improved it's safe to say each takes place after the next. Therefore, we can theorise that Pokémon from new regions may have been introduced artificially to other places, like grey squirrels to the UK from the US, or Japanese knotweed to anywhere outside of Japan. That would explain the Johto and Hoenn-native Pokémon found in Fire Red and Leaf Green and so forth.

well, mate. That's when the fiction comes along.
at this point, that's already an accepted part of pokemon.
just like how Mario is the only one who can rescue Peach, or how Samus can morph into a little ball.

Mario is the only human, who was taken from the human world if I am not mistaken. his bro is also human and princess peach is of the mushroom species. Samus is explained through future science.
