I loved how Gen 2 Pokemon existed before they were made.

Gen 2 pokemon existed in japan right as gen 1 really started picking up steam in north america.

nope, by the time the anime first started, pokemon japan already had a bunch of gen 2 pokemon made up. (not released, but in development.)

Gen 4 isn't bad. Could be a lot better, but at least some of the music is good.

Gen 5 is brilliant. Good Pokemon (Designs take some getting used to), good music, and you get to repeatedly battle Cynthia, the G4 Champion.

Gen 4 is pretty shitty.
Gen 5 is easily one of my favorites, along with the 1st.

Gigalith (evolution of your first example), Hydreigon, Bisharp, Zoroark, Mienshao, Terrakion, Sigilyph, Scolipede, Escavalier, Excadrill, Krookodile, Golurk, Chandelure, Samurott, Carracosta (personal design favorite), Cofagrigus, and Beartic are all examples you should look into.
If you don't think these look cool/badass, and still think Pokémon like Dragonite, Jynx, Magmar, Electrode, Magneton, Muk, etc. do look badass, then you might want to consider putting down the nostalgia goggles.

Liking is not the same as them having "badass/cool" designs. Either they're really generic and plain, they're really obscure, or they're cute, beautiful or funny in their design.

It's all a matter of opinion. I, personally, like the Gen5 pokemon.

it just seems like they're not even trying anymore, and btw most things anyone says are usually opinions, so that was kinda granted when i made the statement. and anyways were critiquing a fictional game, so of course its a matter of opinion. pokemon is just garbage nowadays.

I will admit that Pokemon isn't as good as it used to be, but you have to realise that children are the target audience, not teenagers/adults.

i was 5 when it came out, all my friends weren't into it, pretty much my whole grade wasn't so i would have to kind of disagree there, the younger kids didn't get it/like it, and the ones that did just ripped off by the older kids trading with the cards. they just dropped the target audience so they could put less effort into the creation and make money. i never liked pokemon until i was a teenager, and then only briefly, when i found digimon.

At that point, the bone or whatever was connecting the part to the body would most likely twist off.
