All differences pointed out between them are completely fanbased, like "herp ash is a pussy that needs companions and red is a lone adventurist" Well no shit red is alone, how fucking stupid would it be to have 2 other character sprites following you around not including pikachu in yellow, and obviously ash needs so companions in the show or it would be fucking boring of him just being alone. Ash is DIRECTLY based on the sprite you control in the game.
