You... I must battle you in pokemon someday. I have spent the last 3 days battling friends and the battle maison place as many times as I could, and nothing has beaten me (seriously, I am lacking purpose in this game. I must be beaten so I have a goal to strive for)

you've never lost yet because you've only been playing in-game where all the computer players suck.

Just go on the battle spot and you'll lose in no time..

When playing online with real people and not dumb computer they use strategy and switch out all the time, they use cheap items like quick claw, focus sash or choice scarfs.

I have a good win/lose ratio i mostly lose when the other team just use legendaries (I don't know if there is a way to not fight people who use them.)
my singles team if anyone ever finds me.

yeah, I hate when that happens. It just shows that they don't have any creativity.

there's over 600 pokemon out there yet only the same 5% are ever used. one thing I hate about pokemon (at least the metagame/online play) is that pokemon aren't made equal so obviously most people would choose the garchomp and scizor over pikachu and bibarel if they want to win because they have better stats.

The anime logic of pokemon is pretty weird too, since a pikachu can take a beating from a dragonite then beat it with thunderbolt where as in the game a dragonite would one-hit-ko it without a scratch

I really liked the cross gen evolutions from gen4.

Besides gallade, I was thinking of choosing between rhyperior, magmortar or electivire, but they all need special item trades while I don even have their pre-evolutions yet.

My fav poke is sceptile but you cant get it until the bank opens in late december, which sucks. So far I'm trying to make a decent team out of gen6 poke's (but I hate aegislash becasue of it brokeness) chesnaught is my favorite gen6 starter but I honestly cant seem to win any matches when I use it because of it's too many weakness and bad stat distribution..

you could breed a new one with good natures and better ev distribution.
as for the cross gen trades getting the items does not take to long (round 20 you should have enough bp to get them) for the trading part i could help with that if you decide to get any of them (trade, trade back)

battling friends as in randoms who I trade with first, and then battle to add as a friend. The best someone has gotten was getting me down to my last 2 pokemon, one of which I admit is a mewtwo but I hadn't used him. A basic run of my strategy is using Volcarona (if I remember that name right, I just nicknamed it Volc) up first, using one of 2 fire attacks, fly, or u-turn to burn and defeat many opponents. When my opponent uses a mega or a legendary, I will usually use Volc to take them down to at least half health. After that, I swap to my imposter ditto and use their pokemon against them. If they have a team that can take down their best, I then swap the Kangi, my Kangaskhan, near max attack IV, maxed attack and speed EV points, and I mega evolve him to use fake out (takes them to either 2/3 health, half if they have a normal pokemon, and nearly kill them if they have crap defence) then its a case on what I see is best for my next attack. If they are electric, I use earthquake, if its flying or psychic, I use dizzy punch, but for anything else, I use power-up punch at least once or twice, getting 2 attack boosts per attack (since it attacks twice from the ability) After that, it's cake walk. If they can beat him, I can then swap out to either Rotom (washing machine form), Blaziken, or Mewtwo (in case its a legendary vs legendary battle)

I usually experiment and mix up my teams a lot but right now my team is mostly offense based with speedy attackers like haulucha and baton passers. I never use legendaries because they're pretty much overpowered

I find it more fun batting friend than batling random people online the battle spot. On the battle spot you'll mostly see people using the same overused and cheap poke's like scizor, garchomp, aegislash, azzumaril and mega mawile.

I like playing with original pokemon that aren't overused but unfortunately pokemon arent made equally, so it's hard to win just by using your favorites when everyone else is using the things with the highest stats out there.

Trust me, I would battle my 'friends' in pokemon if I could. My only 'friends' are classmates, and none want to battle me because they say I will always win anyway, so there is no point. I have used 3 shinies in the past, mamoswine, dragonite, and golurk (all found by me) but they werent the strongest and were easily beaten. I got rid of Chesnaught and Snorlax cause I needed some more speed in my team, and Aegislash could be beaten in 1 hit. I agree that legendaries are overpowered, but everyone else uses at least one, so I use Mewtwo to level the playing field (he has high IV's, or at least above average ones) and had psychic, aura sphere, shadow ball, and recover, making him a good power house. I got rid of barrier because I needed a way to beat other mewtwo quickly.

i know a decent amount of people IRL who play pokemon xy. Some of them are hardcore competitive players while most are casual or just fans of the game.

The difference between competitive players is that most of them follow the "smogon" rules and tiers while they like using strong base stat pokes like garchomp and scizor (and in gen6 the new aegislash is overpowered)

I just dont like using legendaries or ubers because they make the game too easy and it doesnt feel satisfying when you win with them. I like using original poke's even though they're weaker and have lower stats but with strategy I win about a little more than half the time I play.

but the game has been out for a while now and I'm already tired of it. this game was hyped out the ass and after playing beating the e4, playing the post game and playing online I'm pretty much bored of it.

I despise smogon rules. They are pretty much like whining. I don't like evasion... you know what, your'e not allowed to use it. **** that ****, follow the real pokemon rules... People that play by smogon rules will get trampled in official tournaments. And if you think that it's all about sweeping with a top tier pokemon, I advise you to check out Verlisify on youtube. He won a 2v2 tournament with his 2 main pokemon being snorlax and dunsparce.

I dont solely rely on smogon I just see it as a site that has "some" good info on team building/strategies other than that I avoid their community and forums.

I avoid using ubers and overused because they make the game too easy and there's no satisfaction by winning with them (at least for me..) , in fact even when playing online I like using my favorites instead of the pokemon with the most broken base stats/abilities like the pseudo legendary scizor, garchomp and other steel and dragon types..

there are many ways of taking the mechanics out of the game and manipulating and breaking them to your advantage, have you heard of the level 1 FEAR endeavor rattata and quick attack or the aron berry sandstorm or the flail magikarp..

The rattata strategy was done to a friend of mine except with a starly. all of those strategies are really easy to see coming and are just meant to be funny and trolly, they wouldn't legitimately work in higher tier rating battles.

yeah, in a real match they are easily countered in many different ways like priority moves, changing weather, but most of the time if not prepared it can take out one or two things.

sometimes I just use an explosion with a normal gem + sturdy to suicide bomb when it cant take anymore. Sometimes people predict the explosion and use protect or switch which kinda sucks.

yeah, when the destiny bond fails it sucks because now they see it coming.

what happens to me a lot is when someone is using sucker punch (mostly a mega mawile because mawile is super OP now in it mega form with huge power) and I'm pretty much rock-paper-scissoring them with sword dance and the person who attacks first loses and decides the match

I love mega mawile, that's my teams mega. But it's actually not that great, play rough is such an annoying move with its 90 accuracy, I have had it miss in like every crucial moment ever. And sucker punch is decent, but more often than not it won't kill whatever you're attacking if it isn't super effective.

Huge power seems to be more OP on Azumarril, set him up with a baton passed substitute then use belly drum. Aqua jet sweep through their team.

yeah, I hate using moves that dont have 100acc because even if it has 95 accuracy with my luck it'll miss when I need it most.

Mega mawile had the biggest change in it's mega form. Most of the other mega's just got a bit more bulkier but mawile got huge power making it's attack even greater than attack-form deoxys. mawile aways had a good move pool but bad stats/typing but now that it's half fairy it can resist most stuff but still weak against fire and ground (which can be easily countered)

I see many people like using mega-gengar since it had shadow tag and boosted speed and spec atk, it even learn dazzling gleam for some trollish reason...

dont get me started on mega kangashan. I lost to thatthing too many times, most people will use the same double fake out, double power up punch and double sucker punch etc. I dont know what gamefreak were smoking but attacking twice in a row is overpowered.

But I might end up choosing mega bannete..

The problem is the over-prevalence of earthquake... can't walk 2 feet without someone earthquakin all up in yer business. Also Talonflame has become an extremely popular pokemon with it's high speed, decent attack and great move set it can **** over mawile. Then of course you have mega blaziken...

talonflame also has a good hidden ability called gale wind, which makes all it's flying attacks have +1 priority so brave bird can out speed an aqua jet and etc.

blaziken has been strong before gen6 because of it's HA- speed boost. most people use protect to block an attack then speed boost to prepare a sweep or baton pass.
Imo, speed boost was for frail pokemon like ninjask or yanmega poke's like blaziken or scolipede dont deserve it..

I like using hauluncha as well..

I never use legiendaries on my team, well you can't in rating battles so I don't even train legendaries. I might use Ubers, but idk. I don't even look at smogon. And I chose chespin, I thought he was adorable and I loved the way chestnaught looked. But I ultimately ended up pulling him from my party after like the 5th gym cuz he just didn't feel strong and that spike shield was very disappointing. I thought it was gonna be the ****. Kind of jealous of my girlfriends delphox, that thing can tear through everything.

the most competitively gen6 starter is most likely greninja with its hidden ability protean which is a better version of kecleon's color change ability.

and all of the starters signiture attack are pretty lame delphox get mystic fire when even flame thrower is better, chesnaught gets a better version of protect and greninja get water shrunkien which is an inferior aqua jet and is physical when grennja is a special attacker

Our conversation has become so long I cannot reply to your comment, lol. I may have to look into hawlucha then. ferrothorn lockouts are so obnoxious. But my mawile knows taunt so it can usually stop them. I know my mawile should know sword dance but im so nervous about losing taunt, it's such a useful move. I love when people try to use shuckle lock-downs on me, just taunt and watch them struggle to death.

when people try lock downs on me I just encore them on a uselss move like recover then while they are recovering while they already have full HP or switching I sword dance or nasty plot.

my favorite way to take out lock downs is by using my Zoroark, so when it has it illusion my opponent wont switch out then I can 1hitKO it..

I would say +speed -spc atk would be a better choice, no reason to lower his already low spc def for no reason. Anyways, this was a fun discussion, if I remember correctly you said you were bored of the game, you should find some friends to play with, it's fun to be building along side them and battling to try out your new strategies on each other.

yeah, this game is only fun(mostly) if you have other people irl to play with.

I know a decent number of people who play, varying from hardcore competitive to casual. I'm more in the middle but since I like making team with my favorite pokemon instead of base stats/determined by smogon tiers so I lose I little more than often since everyone it using legendaries/ubers.

btw, which gen6 stater did you like the most?
I liked chesnuaght's but I dont like playing the defense game with it.

Well that seems to work fine though, because it's essentially like using it with the boost and then you immediatly get a speed buff as well. Now I want to go try training a hawlucha for my team... what nature and EV's did you use? I'm thinking a speed nature and then speed and attack EVs

The best would be naive nature+speed -spec def)
Depending if you want it to be capable of taking a few hit you can also give it ev's on defense.

Yea but Raichu has access to a better move set including encore if I'm not mistaken. And would that gem doubly boost acrobatics, because you are technically losing the item? or would it just apply the gem bonus and that's it.

yeah, riachu only learns encore as an egg move anyway. manectric doesnt learn it at all.

acrobatic wouldnt be doubled twice, when an item is held it's bp is 55 flying gem will make it 110 but once item is gone it's be faster and 110 bp.

if you dont like flying gem them you can use a fighting gem.

illusion is an ability that makes the pokemon look like the one thats last in your team.
So if you have mawile last in your team zoroak will look like mawile instead but will still have it's own stats and moves but the illusions stops it it gets damaged. It's just there to trick/screw with your opponent so they dont get scared of switching out for type advantage. Zoroak has good offense and speed but is easily ohit ko'd by antything with a decent attack.

as for encore:

one example is that haulucha know encore so when someone using earthquake and KO's my heliolisk I use encore with haulucha since it's immune to ground attack then I sword dance and use acrobatic or hi-jump kick after the boost.

I have a lightning rod riachu with encore too so when I predict an electric attack (or thunder wave) coming I switch out and absord the attack to get a higher sepc atk then encore them to repeat or switch.

Blaziken is an amazing pokemon, no doubt, but I haven't lost to one online yet, which I am proud of. I had one almost sweep my team but my last pokemon, mega mawile, was able to pick up the slack and get an amazing counter sweep through his whole team.

I have a trick room team and I saw that speed boost coming from a mile away after the team preview so I usually come up with multiple ways to counter the things that I hate the most.

I dont care much for skarmbliss since they are easily countered by taunt or encore but one strategy I hate the most is ferrothorn and togikiss paralyzFlinch. They are easily to counter but hard to make a versatile team to fairly block everything.

I never liked haulucha at first (I thought itd be another delibird) , I used it as an HM slave but since exp share boost everyone it was pretty much the same level as every on the team. Later I realized it had some good stats/moves and since it had unburden I taught it acrobatics. it really helped in game and online.

"Espurr" is one of the new 6th generation Pokemon introduced in Pokemon X and Y. It is a psychic type Pokemon and is classified as a "Restraint" Pokemon. Here is what the Pokedex has to say about it: "The organ that emits its intense psychic power is sheltered by its ears to keep power from leaking out. It has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power." It's a ticking time-bomb.

Is it still adorable?

I'm a fan of all of Ken Sugimori's and his colleagues' designs. I don't dislike it, it just seems kind of... small and nondescript for a Legendary. I would expect to drop from a cave ceiling or something instead, or appear every once and a while when I smashed a rock.
X and Y have been really great at making even the most simple Pokémon come to life with its animations and environments, though, so I look forward to seeing it in action.

really IDK why every one thinks Jiggly Puff can kick Dragonites ass... Jiggly Duff doesn't even have good stats compared to Dragonite and only can learn 2 fairy moves. on another note Dragonite doesn't have to use dragon moves. you could use other moves to take down a jiggly puff and quite easily too...

honestly, I just think gamefreak introduced fairies to balance the metagame.

the most common types when playing online metagames are steel and dragons. The only thing fairies have is a good typing, most of their stat suck but some manage to get overpowered like azzumaril and mega mawile because of their ability+movepool and maybe dualtyping.

other than that a dragonite with an insane base stat can easily kill a jigglypuff without using a dragon attack.

yeah but that ruins setup value for most dragons stabs.. you can't run a dd sub set anymore unless you choose a non stab move.... the point of having good dragon moves was that you weren't resisted by anything except steel, giving a good stab to almost everything.. now outrage is pointless as someone will switch and lock you in for their setup.. dragon rush is **** accuracy at 75%... and the next move is dragon claw at 80 base... offensive dragons have no stabs now at all. they ****** over the hardest to train pokemon by introducing a godly typing, fairy.

fairy is ********.

and saying that it evens the playing field is even more ridiculous. especially since ou, the most popular tier, wasn't rampant with dragon and steel..

8 dragons and 9 steel types.
while there are 10 water types, 9 psychic, 7 fighting.. and so on.. it was pretty fair in every tier that way, except ubers since gamegreak likes the release **** loads of legendary dragons.

so i don't know what you are smoking but i won't some of that stuff you are puffing.
the stats, movepools, and ability mons are what needed to be improved for more equal gameplay and more rising pokemon from lower tiers...

To be fair, those "8 dragons" defined the OU tier more than any other type. Water types are good because of nice stats and interesting movepools, only 3-4 of the psychics are actually viable for anything outside of niche play, and the fighting types were an evolution of the metagame in response to blissey/chansey specially defensive cores paired with steel types. Steel was the premier defensive type because it was the only counter to the outrage/draco meteor spam of those "8 dragons".

Its not just how many there are of any given type, but how defining each of those pokemon are. To add to this, pokemon like salamence, who had essentially been replaced by hydregion/garchomp, are still ou because their typing and ability to spam dragon moves made them to much for any lower tier. They were OU literally because they were dragons with decent stats.

Fairy just tries to even the playing field by taking away the ability to spam choiced/dd-boosted dragon moves. This, in turn, takes pressure off of pokemon who could not be competitive because of this and opens the meta to more options, so that we don't see the same 15 pokemon making up every team all the time.

Is this ideal? Hardly, it would have been better in my opinion to simply nerf outrage and/or choice items in order to give other sets a better chance. However, I don't know enough to say i'm right in this particular regard. It is simply my opinion that Fairy is attempt to open up the metagame from the restrictive grasp of dragon move spamming.

TL;DR : Fairy opens metagame up to new possibilites by countering dragon spam. Opinion is voiced, internet rages.

Not because they were dragons... Dragon / Flying and Dragon / Ground being common in OU makes their ass bait for anything with Ice Shard or steel typing and an ice move rapes them. Like Ice Shard Mamoswine and Ice Punch Metagross eat up dragons for breakfast. Only the Latis, which are legendaries, are actually extremely viable in OU. If you count evasion Garchomp then I guess he is too.. But he is easily raped by Ice Shard.

The typing is pointless. Dragons are outright strong with stats. Their movepools add to it as well. The typing had nothing to do with their strength only giving an unresisted stab. It would've been better to nerf them and still let them hit fairies... as giving them an immunity basically puts every dragon in UU or NU now except for the ones with unique abilities.

They just changed the metagame to favor fairies and poison more.

They made good moves by adding those abilities to certain pokemons.. Granted a few like Blaziken, Dragonite, Politoed, and Ninetailes were so ****** up and rigged... But it was good movement. They just needed to use abilities, movepools, and better stats to even it, a new super effective typing towards dragon and another 1/2 to it would've been perfect for evening the very powerful stat dragons... But making it an immunity just ****** it all.

Not raging, it's only that Gamefreak probably doesn't give a flying **** about the metagame as much as they do as making it fun.. The new megas, typing, and dream world abilities were a start.. but honestly, they are marketing it towards kids not the competitive side.

There will always be tiers in pokemon until they can perfect it completely. Change things by overpowering other pokemon doesn't really help it.

I agree, dragons were ****** over this gen big time by the fairies and outrage it pretty much obsolete now because of the immunity.

Pretty much everyone in the metagame this gen has been slightly nuked.
-steel no longer resist dark but still has the most resistances in the game and is SE against faries
-weather abilities are no longer permanent so rain and sun team are less broken

If anything steel should have been nuked because it is way more overused. Sure dragons have salamence, dragonite, haxorus and garchomp but steel has Scizor, metagross, bronzorg, etc [even more but cant think of them right now]

drizzle and drought should have only been for groudon and kyorgre but the dumbass hidden ability made politoad and 9tails broken. and speed boost was an ability meant for frail/weak poks like ninjask/yanmega but blaziken with speed boost/protect/baton pass/sword dance is beyond broken.

I play on battle spot now and what I hate now is how broken aegislash and mawile are. I also hate that everyone overusing garchomp, azzumaril, scizor.

The immunity was the bad part.. If it was 1/2 and 2x towards it.. that'd would've been much better. Dragons are the hardest to train! And most fairy types are really easy to train.

Nah, water rapes this metagame now. Their good movepools, decent stats, and abilities allow them to destroy. Cause Grass and Electric aren't as common still. They should've given buffs to grass as well considering it is still the ********* type out of them all. Steel was easily taken care of by 1 eq or fighting user and since fighting was fairly rampant in ou.. they weren't that amazing compared to the other types. They were the best, you're right about that, and they did need a bit nerfing.. but the pure steel type didn't exist.. it was just the dual typed mons that made it in ou. and they had subpar stats, movepools, and abilities on average compared to other types.. that's how they were checked.

You are so right about the abilities... Dream world abilities leveled the playing field a lot but giving pokemon overpowered abilities was part of the downfall. Instead of removing it, they had to nerf it because of their stupid mistake.

Why is Garchomp used a lot? He blows dick. One ice shard destroys him.. maybe not enough viable ice shard users are out yet? or enough fairies? Or maybe it's just twelve and younger kids who don't play competitively...

Honestly, gamefreak tried this gen to even it out.. but so far it just looks only slightly better than last gen for competitive and way more overpowering abilities and typing to try and level it out... but they are marketing towards kids not the competitive side.. so who knows. It's probably not the first thing on their mind to create a more diverse competitive side.

Dragons were only so great because they have amazing stats. Their abilities and movepools wouldn't be worth anyones time if they didn't have uber-like stats. They needed only to boost pokemons stats higher to compete with them.. Not nerf them..

I agree, dragons are usually rare pseudo lengendaries that are harder to train (more exp) but dragons this gen were easy to find, in fact this gen had the smalest number of new pokemon ever with only 68 new poke's..

on battle spot 3 on 3 batte spot matches, ubers like garchomps can be hard to counter if you're only using a team of 3 underused tiers.

What I hate most about fairies are their unnecessary type advantages, maybe it should be 0.5 resist instead of full on dragon immunity but they are SE against fighters, dark, and dragons. I dont care much for dragons/fighters since they are strong enough but darks were some of my favs and things like azzumaril sweep through then easily with play rough and aqua jet.

other than azzumaril and mega mawile most other faires have bad stats even the trade evo's like slurpuff and aroma-thing are awful.

Yeah, but look at the Def/SpDef stat of the newly fairy types. Since Dragons are mostly Ubers, the only way the balance would be effective is if they resisted, since Dragons would STILL be doing a ton of damage even with reduced damage.
