the rectangular one was missingo. its a glitch pokemon that ruins peoples games and makes them start over. they pretty much used it to scare the person into giving them all the candy

Thats one way to look at it...but you could use the missingno glitch to duplicate rare candys, thats why when the kid in the missingno outfit gets a lot more candy.
