See, it's **** like this that makes me admire the Kanto and Orange Islands sagas of this anime. It's true that in terms of actual plot advancement that they were just as simple-minded as today's seasons, but there was a sense of actual emotion invoking - humor, sadness, pride. It made me think that the team actually had fun doing their job, instead of producing an extremely long commercial. This scene in particular never failed to do it's job.   
   
Also, obligatory 'drying pan' reference.
