I never really understood why some guys in online games or any game for that matter choose to be a girl if they had the choice.

Aside from taking advantage of other guys and gaining stuff from them. But if that's so then there are the non online games that make it pointless or you could just give them to your actual guy character.

Most people don't think of their character as an avatar of themselves, they think of it as a character. I don't understand why when some people play games they automatically have to be as closely affiliated as possible to their character.

I started playing dragon's prophet recently, and after watching Angry Joe try it I went with a female just so I could play around with the ridiculous proportions. After I was done ******* around I decided to go with somewhat modest proportions and not have boobs that can reach outer space.

Demon's Souls has gender required armor.

I played a few games where girls had smaller character models, and thus, smaller hitboxes. So I play girl characters because they are sometimes harder to hit.

so THAT'S why people say you can't hit girls. it has nothing to do with being fragile, they just make a really small target.
pic related it's the exception that proves the rule

You're already playing as someone who isn't you. Why does it matter if you make it a little less. Change your hair colour, gender, skin tone. Be an alien. Try playing a different character to yourself.

Or play as an avatar of yourself that has cool powers, both are a good way to play a game.

For me it depends on the game, if the male models look better i'll use them, same thing for the female models

For me it depends on the situation, with pokemon I've played some of the games so much that it's boring staring at the same character running through the region for hours on end. For a game like skyrim I just think that some of the male characters particularly high elves and wood elves look really stupid so I choose to play as the female.

Some games just have that sexy female kick assy-ness. Like tomb raider, ya know? I like female ass kickers, they're sexy.
#32 to #3 - imbackbaby (09/13/2013) [-]
So I can ********** when I put nude mods on skyrim. Duh

I picked the girl in 1 of the pokemon games because I thought the guy's hat looked stupid. When you grow up, you realize that your gender in a videogame doesn't really matter.

Sometimes female characters are faster and more agile than the male characters who are stronger and hit harder.

Hence why most of the Rouges were female i.e sneaky pricks.

Most guys probably just like looking at them.
Its more of a visual over immersion thing I guess.

Sometimes there is gender specific equipment thats worth it.

Thank you for giving me better, more understandable reasons.

I don't really do that, but I don't bash on people that do. I have played a female in online games before, but It's quite annoying to deal with those who either flirt or find out that I am no woman and has a problem with it.

Online or not, playing a male character doesn't bother me and I just search NSFW/porn if I want eye candy which I don't want every time I play. I mainly play the game for the gameplay. The "being a female" part can be appealing, but it can get annoying at other times (especially games that have exposing female armor).

Currently, Skyrim is the only game I have a female character in.

That's also my reason why I can't enjoy watching High School of the Dead how the heck am I supposed to be creeped out and have a boner at the same time? I can't take it seriously or I'll end up as a necrophiliac.

I'm usually a male character even though I'm female. It's just for a change of pace most of the time, and some games (like Skyrim's speech perk, for example) have different abilities for genders or one gender may be more useful than another.
Not to mention guys have more cool names than girls

It's a change. I get bored being a guy all the time.

Because the male models are ******* ugly, its not staring at a chicks ass, I'm gay, but my god do the faces they make for most male characters look stupid.

Playing through SR4 and had to change the character to female because every male voice when you collect a cluster just starts to sound a little challenged after the 3-4 hundred mark.
YEEEAAAAUUUGGGH!

So I don't have to stare at some dudes ass all game long... Female models are sexy.
User avatar #39 to #8 - drunkasaurus (09/13/2013) [-]
Exactly this. I don't know why people always try to make their character look like themselves, I think that's creepy.
User avatar #36 to #8 - hydraetis (09/13/2013) [-]
Simple solution: don't stare at your character's ass?
#71 to #36 - mykol (09/15/2013) [-]
Lol hmm.

Option A: Don't stare at some dudes ass.

Option B: Stare at some chicks ass.

I think the best choice is obvious.

Mmmmm them pixels right?

Sometimes, people want to (In online roleplays) see what it's like to be a woman. It's sorta like going on seeing life from the eyes of a woman.
User avatar #6 to #3 - badgerclan (09/12/2013) [-]
Because they want to have a female character? My dad uses the female player model in Reach and Halo 4 because he likes having a different voice for sprinting than most of the other players. I occasionally make female characters in TES because I feel like it and my second character in Mass Effect is female because I want to do everything the opposite of how I did it on my first playthrough.
User avatar #5 to #3 - PrismaLowell (09/12/2013) [-]
Because video games aren't reality and some people want to play games the way they want to? If that means playing female characters, then more power to them, they are playing for fun after all.
