www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/07/30/scientists-move-one-step-closer-to-resurrecting-woolly-mammoths/

The reasons you are thinking of apply to animals that have been extinct for millions of years. There are obvious difficulties associated with resurrecting mammoths, but it's entirely in the realm of possibility given enough time, luck, and money.

It's not the same as attempting to resurrect a dinosaur, which actually is impossible.

"You don't know the reasons I am thinking of."

There are only so many reasons a person of at least moderate intelligence would have for thinking that resurrecting a mammoth is impossible. Those reasons would be based on easily identifiable misconceptions.

"As much as I would love to see it happen I doubt it will. That is why I said it was practically impossible."

Unlikely =/= Practically Impossible. It is entirely within the realm of possibility, and there are scientists actively working to make that possibility a reality. Whether it will actually happen is a different argument.

Here, have a video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-0mT4oQH3o You are not wrong, but I still don't think it'll happen. And I guess it's a philosophical matter whether something that will never happen can be claimed to be practically possible or not. That's all I care to say.

theoretically speaking a mammoths dna is close enough to an elepahants that if we were to use extracted dna from a mammoth to artificially inseminate an elephant you could bring them back into existence. This could be done with any animals with enough preserved dna and a close enough genetic relative however theres no real reason to invest the time or money to ressurect extinct species
