Can just someone please tell me if there'S a definition for what is a fractal? Wikipedia page is not very useful. ( too much strange words i don't recognize )
I was shunned by posting a image i thought was afractal, and by the amount of red thumbs it got, it clearly wasn't. Also, the comment under it said so
Is it like that it has to be made out of geometrical shapes or something?
Pretty please?
It just occured to me, that this is the definition of fractal ,t hen 80% of 'fractal stuff' on Deviantart is probably not fractal, just some pretty pics with glowy lines. But, i am a man with his limits, so, i have no idea.
Fun Fact.... While on psychedelics, your brain works like fractals, if you close your eyes long enough you will eventually see VERY similar things as this moving at different speeds and various colors.... fractals and geometry are imbedded in nature, very interesting in my opinion
Are these one of the the "pics with glowy lines"? If so, it is, in fact, a fractal. It is made by an infinite amount of gears. I guarantee you the definition I gave you is not 100% mathematician approved for their is a lot of mathematics and consequently mathematical proofs to go with it.
No, more like this. You need to login to view this link I watched this guy thinking These are Fractals , buy, they arent. I think, at least. Still pretty though.
Well, there are also "almost-fractals" and fractal geometry. The problem is that self-similarity within a system can only go so far in the physical or digital world, so neither art nor the real world can create a true fractal, which requires infinitesimally small structures.
For example, a tree is based off of fractal geometry. It branches continuously, with self-similarity within a smaller part of itself. However, it will eventually stop, ending its branches with leaves (which also have fractal geometry). Lightning bolts have similar geometry, as do the blood vessels in your body.
The same goes for fractal art. Most fractals shown in art are not infinitely zoomable (or zoomable at all) and thus cannot be real fractals. And because they are often unzoomable, they might not even look like fractals due to the lack of detail.
