I think... Like with bedtime, babies have to wear their diapers longer than usual, so putting vaseline in the spots where diapers might chafe will help keep irritation down. It also helps with diaper rash. So no crying because they babies don't have as much irritation down there. Now there are more effective cremes, but back in the day Vaseline was the go to creme. At least I think that's how it worked.

Quite a few things came up, but everything is so scattered apparently it was also used to keep soap out of their eyes during a bath if some in put above the eye brows, and also for keeping the nose moist when they are sick and get those "crusties".

Just a whole lotta interesting uses for this slimy stuff. o_O

Sounds about right. In terms of this ad, I think they might be referring to the whole diaper thing with keeping things "Lubed" and such. I know today it's used to help wounds heal and if someone is dying their hair it helps to keep from staining their hair lines.

That give makes me so uncomfortable... that poor boy.
