I used to only watch dubs.. then I watched a sub an realize the acting is much better.. After getting into many animes I got extremely tired with the same voices in the dub..

I would play a guessing game and guess what actor was going to play that voice..

Same thing happens in One Piece. Nearly all of Zoro's attacks are puns on various kinds of sushi and Japanese food, such as:

Oni Giri: Demon Slash
Onigiri: Riceball

Tatsu Maki: Dragon Twister
Tatsumaki: Tornado (also type of sushi)

I think subs are much better. They encourage a person to understand the language being spoken and displays the emotions of an character. Foreign films are pretty are in the UK so my experience is limited but all films seems to have subtitles that are not English.

despite the hate, i would rather take a decent dub over an amazing sub anyday

Dubbing is the only way I watch anime. I can't watch it subbed. I don't want to have to read what they're saying, I want to hear it. Reading the words just distracts you from what's going on, especially during an action scene. You can't watch it AND read it at the same time.

When i started watching anime i would only watch dubs. But later i realized that subs are better in my opinion and the japanese voice acting was just more emotionally accessible for me. I like subs better than dubs.

Happens with Japanese all the time.
I mean, credit to dubbers and subbers for trying, but a lot of the time it just ain't the same...

Can't wait for the professional dub of Girls und Panzer. Its the studios first go with a vary popular anime, where before they have only done lesser known anime.
Any way, I can't think of any pun that isn't either German, or history related, so there should be no problem there. But I really hope they keep the German words, because they are there for a reason.

Not hating on dubb-fans but, are people really such slow readers that they get distracted from subs?

Sometimes it only take a quick glance to get what the subs are saying, and I'm not even a native english speaker.
I guess you get conditioned to it if you grow up watching "original language only" movies, and never EVER any dubs.

I really hate how funimation cycles through the same voice actors for EVERYTHING. It's like playing skyrim and oblivion and hearing the same 10 voices for every character. It's so fucking annoying.

I just read an article with an interview by employees of xseed I believe it was. They were talking about how its much harder to do an English translation of a game than people think due to stuff such as puns and jokes that would make no sense in our culture. It was a cool little article.

Since we dub EVERYTHING in France, most of the puns or english related jokes are just re-written into a french pun/jokes which often have nothing to see with the original ones, so the all dialogue before that has to be re-written as well.

Dubs are just horrible, since the dialogue has nothing to see with what the producer originally wanted and it basically kills the entire movie. But we french people still constantly refuse to watch something other than french speaking, and all of our cinemas only offer dubbed versions. In Switzerland where I live now its great, cause half of the movies are in their original version with french and german subs.

But the craziest ive seen was Norway where they literally have NOTHING dubbed, they keep everything in their original version. Even 10yo kids watch movies in english there.
