arreatface (07/24/2014) [-] yes I'm from france and they teach american history. French teaching system is really ****** as the teachers can't be fired because of MUH SOCHEUL RAITE. So what they teach is good, you learn about important things that took place around the world at different times, historical quotations like the Roosevelt one, the Marshall plan, all kinds of ***** , but sometimes your teacher is an asshat and gives you tons of photocopied documents you have to read all by yourself while he's sitting at his desk enjoying a book and a coffee, and nothing can be done about it.

But history classes here are kind of repetitive... The majority of every year (except geography) is pretty much the Cold War and the Civil Rights movement.
The only class that was different was Texas history. Funny right? The state of Texas gets its own history class.
But like.. the only French history I learned of is all the crazy **** that went down during/after the revolution in the 17/1800's and of course what happened in WW2.

Every year the same **** , slavery, civil rights for blacks, revolutions and uprising in every african town. The subject itself is not thaat boring but re-studying it every year is annoying as **** . Btw I learned most of the english vocabulary that I know by playing Diablo 2 Eu servers, everyone was talking english there so I learnt. Also learned a lot on this site ^^.

darthblam (07/24/2014) [-] Yeah.. English classes here always ended up doing history around the Civil Rights movement for some reason.. usually to make us talk about people like Martin Luther King Jr. or Malcolm X (famous activists).
But they focus on it waaaay too much, EVERY year.. It seriously feels like a big white guilt trip thing..
